¹⁴ They are dead, they will not live;
They are deceased, they will not rise.
Therefore You have punished and destroyed them,
And made all their memory to ^(A)perish.

²¹ His sons come to honor, and ^(A)he does not know it;
They are brought low, and he does not perceive it.

¹⁶ For there is ^(A)no more remembrance of the wise than of the fool forever,
Since all that now is will be forgotten in the days to come.
And how does a wise man die?
As the fool!

¹¹ There is ^(A)no remembrance of former things,
Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come
By those who will come after.

¹⁰ Will You work wonders for the dead?
Shall ^[a]the dead arise and praise You? Selah
¹¹ Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave?
Or Your faithfulness in the place of destruction?
¹² Shall Your wonders be known in the dark?
And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

^5 (A)For in death there is no remembrance of You;
In the grave who will give You thanks?

¹⁵ Let them be continually before the Lord,
That He may ^(A)cut off the memory of them from the earth;
