⁷ For he ^(A)does not know what is to be, for ^(B)who can tell him how it will be?

⁵⁰ the master of that servant will come ^(A)on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know

¹² For man ^(A)does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and ^(B)like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are ^(C)snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.

⁶ But ^(A)at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ ⁷ Then all those virgins rose and ^(B)trimmed their lamps. ⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ ⁹ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ ¹⁰ And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and ^(C)those who were ready went in with him to ^(D)the marriage feast, and ^(E)the door was shut. ¹¹ Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ^(F)‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ ^12 (G)But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, ^(H)I do not know you.’ ^13 (I)Watch therefore, for you ^(J)know neither the day nor the hour.

⁴⁴ Therefore you also must be ^(A)ready, for ^(B)the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

¹² For who knows what is good for man while he lives the few days of his ^(A)vain^[a] life, which he passes like ^(B)a shadow? For who can tell man what will be ^(C)after him under the sun?

²² So I saw that there is ^(A)nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his work, for ^(B)that is his lot. Who can bring him to see ^(C)what will be after him?
