¹⁹ Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions,^(A) and the ability to enjoy them,^(B) to accept their lot^(C) and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.^(D)

¹⁸ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth,^(A) and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

¹³ That each of them may eat and drink,^(A) and find satisfaction^(B) in all their toil—this is the gift of God.^(C)

² God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them,^(A) and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.^(B)

¹² therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor,^(A) such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.^(B)”

²⁴ A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink^(A) and find satisfaction in their own toil.^(B) This too, I see, is from the hand of God,^{(C) 25} for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?^{(D) 26} To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom,^(E) knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth^(F) to hand it over to the one who pleases God.^(G) This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

¹³ Moreover, I will give you what you have not^(A) asked for—both wealth and honor^(B)—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal^(C) among kings.
