^10 (A)I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied.

¹³ And I set my heart to seek and ^(A)search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven; ^(B)this burdensome task God has given to the sons of man, by which they may be ^[a]exercised. ¹⁴ I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

²⁶ For God gives ^(A)wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that ^(B)he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

⁸ nor did we eat anyone’s bread ^[a]free of charge, but worked with ^(A)labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you,

⁹ For you remember, brethren, our ^(A)labor and toil; for laboring night and day, ^(B)that we might not be a burden to any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.
