⁷ I acquired male and female servants, and had ^[a]servants born in my house. Yes, I had greater possessions of herds and flocks than all who were in Jerusalem before me.

¹² Now the Lord blessed ^(A)the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had ^(B)fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.

³ Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the ^[a]people of the East.

⁵⁸ All the ^(A)Nethinim and the children of ^(B)Solomon’s servants were three hundred and ninety-two.

Hezekiah’s Wealth and Honor^(A)

²⁷ Hezekiah had very great riches and honor. And he made himself treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all kinds of desirable items; ²⁸ storehouses for the harvest of grain, wine, and oil; and stalls for all kinds of livestock, and ^[a]folds for flocks. ²⁹ Moreover he provided cities for himself, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for ^(B)God had given him very much property.

¹⁰ Also he built towers in the desert. He dug many wells, for he had much livestock, both in the lowlands and in the plains; he also had farmers and vinedressers in the mountains and in ^[a]Carmel, for he loved the soil.

²⁹ And Shitrai the Sharonite was over the herds that fed in Sharon, and Shaphat the son of Adlai was over the herds that were in the valleys. ³⁰ Obil the Ishmaelite was over the camels, Jehdeiah the Meronothite was over the donkeys, ³¹ and Jaziz the ^(A)Hagrite was over the flocks. All these were the officials over King David’s property.

⁴ Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheepbreeder, and he ^(A)regularly paid the king of Israel one hundred thousand ^(B)lambs and the wool of one hundred thousand rams.

^20 (A)All the people who were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel— ²¹ that is, their descendants ^(B)who were left in the land after them, ^(C)whom the children of Israel had not been able to destroy completely—^(D)from these Solomon raised ^(E)forced labor, as it is to this day. ²² But of the children of Israel Solomon ^(F)made no forced laborers, because they were men of war and his servants: his officers, his captains, commanders of his chariots, and his cavalry.
