1 Peter 4:2-4
New King James Version
2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, (A)but for the will of God. 3 For we have spent enough of our past [a]lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.

Ecclesiastes 7:2-6
New King James Version
2 Better to go to the house of mourning
Than to go to the house of feasting,
For that is the end of all men;
And the living will take it to (A)heart.
3 [a]Sorrow is better than laughter,
(B)For by a sad countenance the heart is made [b]better.
4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,
But the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
5 (C)It is better to [c]hear the rebuke of the wise
Than for a man to hear the song of fools.
6 (D)For like the [d]crackling of thorns under a pot,
So is the laughter of the fool.
This also is vanity.

Amos 6:3-6
New King James Version
3 Woe to you who (A)put far off the day of (B)doom,
(C)Who cause (D)the seat of violence to come near;
4 Who lie on beds of ivory,
Stretch out on your couches,
Eat lambs from the flock
And calves from the midst of the stall;
5 (E)Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments,
And invent for yourselves (F)musical instruments (G)like David;
6 Who (H)drink wine from bowls,
And anoint yourselves with the best ointments,
(I)But are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
Isaiah 22:12-13
New King James Version
12 And in that day the Lord God of hosts
(A)Called for weeping and for mourning,
(B)For baldness and for girding with sackcloth.
13 But instead, joy and gladness,
Slaying oxen and killing sheep,
Eating meat and (C)drinking wine:
(D)“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
