You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward(E) to the day of God and speed its coming.[b](F) That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.(G) 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth,(H) where righteousness dwells.

19 The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi.(G)
These were the clans of Levi according to their records.
20 Amram(H) married his father’s sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses.(I) Amram lived 137 years.
21 The sons of Izhar(J) were Korah, Nepheg and Zikri.
22 The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan(K) and Sithri.
23 Aaron married Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab(L) and sister of Nahshon,(M) and she bore him Nadab and Abihu,(N) Eleazar(O) and Ithamar.(P)
24 The sons of Korah(Q) were Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These were the Korahite clans.
25 Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas.(R)
These were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan.
26 It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring the Israelites out of Egypt(S) by their divisions.”(T) 27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh(U) king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt—this same Moses and Aaron.(V)
