Tabernacle Artisans

10 (A)Have every skillful person among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 the [a](B)tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its bases; 12 the (C)ark and its poles, the [b]atoning cover, and the covering curtain; 13 the (D)table and its poles, and all its [c]utensils, and the bread of the [d]Presence; 14 the (E)lampstand also for the light and its utensils and its lamps, and the oil for the light; 15 and the (F)altar of incense and its poles, and the (G)anointing oil and the (H)fragrant incense, and the curtain for the doorway at the [e]entrance of the tabernacle; 16 (I)the altar of burnt offering with its [f]bronze grating, its poles, and all its [g]utensils, the basin and its stand; 17 (J)the hangings of the courtyard, its pillars and its bases, and the curtain for the gate of the courtyard; 18 the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the courtyard and their ropes; 19 the [h](K)woven garments for ministering in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to serve as priests.’”

Gifts Received

20 Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel departed from Moses’ presence. 21 And (L)everyone whose heart [i]stirred him and everyone whose spirit [j]moved him came and brought the Lords [k]contribution for the work of the tent of meeting and for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22 Then all [l]whose hearts moved them, both men and women, came and brought brooches and [m]earrings and signet rings and bracelets, all articles of gold; so did everyone who [n]presented an offering of gold to the Lord. 23 Everyone [o]who was in possession of violet, purple, or scarlet material or fine linen or goats’ hair, or rams’ skins [p]dyed red or fine leather, brought them. 24 Everyone who could make a [q]contribution of silver and [r]bronze brought the Lords [s]contribution; and everyone [t]who was in possession of acacia wood for any work of the service brought it. 25 And all the [u]skilled women spun with their hands, and brought what they had spun, in violet, purple, and scarlet material, and in fine linen. 26 And all the women whose heart [v]stirred with a skill spun the goats’ hair. 27 The rulers, moreover, brought the onyx stones and the stones for setting for the ephod and for the [w]breastpiece; 28 and (M)the spice and the oil for the light and for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense. 29 The [x]Israelites, all the men and women, whose heart [y]moved them to bring material for all the work, which the Lord had commanded through Moses to be done, brought a (N)[z]voluntary offering to the Lord.

30 (O)Then Moses said to the sons of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 31 And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all [aa]craftsmanship; 32 to create [ab]designs for working in gold, in silver, and in [ac]bronze, 33 and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood, so as to perform in every inventive work. 34 He also has put in his heart to teach, both he and (P)Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35 (Q)He has filled them with [ad]skill to perform every work of an engraver, of a designer, and of an embroiderer, in violet, purple, and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs.

The Tabernacle Underwritten

36 “Now Bezalel, Oholiab, and every [ae]skillful person in whom the Lord has put [af]skill and understanding to know how to perform all the work [ag]in the construction of the sanctuary, shall perform in accordance with everything that the Lord has commanded.”

Then Moses called Bezalel, Oholiab, and every [ah]skillful person in [ai]whom the Lord had put [aj]skill, (R)everyone whose heart stirred him, to come to the work to perform it. They received from Moses every [ak]contribution which the sons of Israel had brought to perform [al]the work [am]in the construction of the sanctuary. And they still continued bringing to him [an]voluntary offerings every morning. And all the [ao]skillful people who were performing all the work of the sanctuary came, each from [ap]the work which they were performing, and they said to [aq]Moses, “(S)The people are bringing much more than enough for the [ar]construction work which the Lord commanded us to [as]perform.” So Moses issued a command, and circulated a [at]proclamation throughout the camp, saying, “No man or woman is to perform work any longer for the [au]contributions of the sanctuary.” So the people were restrained from bringing any more. (T)For the [av]material they had was sufficient and more than enough for all the work, to perform it.

Construction Begins

(U)All the [aw]skillful people among those who were performing the work made the [ax]tabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twisted linen and [ay]violet, purple, and scarlet material, with cherubim, the work of a skilled embroiderer, [az]Bezalel made them. The length of each curtain was [ba]twenty-eight cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; all the curtains had [bb]the same measurements. 10 He [bc]joined five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he [bd]joined to one another. 11 And he made loops of violet on the edge of the [be]outermost curtain in the first [bf]set; he did likewise on the edge of the curtain that was [bg]outermost in the second [bh]set. 12 He made (V)fifty loops in the one curtain, and he made fifty loops on the [bi]edge of the curtain that was in the second [bj]set; the loops were opposite each other. 13 He also made (W)fifty clasps of gold, and [bk]joined the curtains to one another with the clasps, so that the tabernacle was [bl]a unit.

14 Then (X)he made curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle; he [bm]made eleven curtains in all. 15 The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits was the width of each curtain; the eleven curtains had [bn]the same measurements. 16 He [bo]joined five curtains by themselves, and the other six curtains by themselves. 17 Moreover, he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the first [bp]set, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the second [bq]set. 18 He also made fifty clasps of [br]bronze to [bs]join the tent together so that it would be [bt]a unit. 19 And he made a covering for the tent of rams’ skins [bu]dyed red, and a covering of [bv]fine leather above.

20 (Y)Then he made the boards for the tabernacle of acacia wood, standing upright. 21 Ten cubits was the length of [bw]each board, and one and a half cubits the width of each board. 22 There were two tenons for each board, [bx]fitted to one another; he did this to all the boards of the tabernacle. 23 So he made the boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards [by]for the south side; 24 and he made forty bases of silver under the twenty boards; two bases under one board for its two tenons, and two bases under another board for its two tenons. 25 Then for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty boards, 26 and their forty bases of silver; two bases under one board, and two bases under another board. 27 And for the [bz]back of the tabernacle, to the west, he made six boards. 28 He made two boards for the corners of the [ca]tabernacle at the [cb]back. 29 They were double beneath, and together they were complete to its [cc]top, [cd]to the first ring; he did this with both of them for the two corners. 30 There were eight boards with their bases of silver, sixteen bases, two bases under every board.

31 Then he made (Z)bars of acacia wood, five for the boards of one side of the tabernacle, 32 and five bars for the boards of the [ce]other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the [cf]back side to the west. 33 And he made the middle bar to pass through in the [cg]center of the boards from end to end. 34 Then he overlaid the boards with gold, and made their rings of gold as holders for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold.

35 (AA)Moreover, he made the veil of violet, purple, and scarlet material, and fine twisted linen; he made it with cherubim, the work of a skilled embroiderer. 36 And he made four pillars of acacia for it, and overlaid them with gold, with their hooks of gold; and he cast four bases of silver for them. 37 He also made a (AB)curtain for the doorway of the tent, of violet, purple, and scarlet material, and fine twisted linen, the work of a [ch]weaver; 38 and he made its (AC)five pillars with their hooks, and he overlaid their tops and their [ci]bands with gold; but their five bases were of [cj]bronze.

32 (A)As they were coming out, they found a man of (B)Cyrene named Simon, [a]whom they compelled to carry His [b]cross.

The Crucifixion

33 (C)And when they came to a place called (D)Golgotha, which means Place of a Skull, 34 (E)they gave Him (F)wine mixed with [c]bile to drink; and after tasting it, He was unwilling to drink it.

35 And when they had crucified Him, (G)they divided His garments among themselves by casting [d]lots. 36 And sitting down, they began to (H)keep watch over Him there. 37 And above His head they put up the charge against Him [e]which read, “(I)THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

38 At that time two [f]rebels *were being crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left. 39 And those passing by were [g]speaking abusively to Him, (J)shaking their heads, 40 and saying, “(K)You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! (L)If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” 41 In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying, 42 (M)He saved others; [h]He cannot save Himself! (N)He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him. 43 (O)He has trusted in God; let God rescue Him now, if He [i]takes pleasure in Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 (P)And the [j]rebels who had been crucified with Him were also insulting Him in the same way.

45 (Q)Now from the [k]sixth hour darkness [l]fell upon all the land until the [m]ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, (R)Eli, Eli, lema sabaktanei?” that is, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 47 And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling for Elijah.” 48 And (S)immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, he filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink. 49 But the rest of them said, “[n]Let us see if Elijah comes to save Him[o].” 50 And Jesus (T)cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit. 51 (U)And behold, (V)the [p]veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and (W)the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52 Also the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the [q]saints who had (X)fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection, they entered (Y)the holy city and appeared to many. 54 (Z)Now as for the centurion and those who were with him (AA)keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw (AB)the earthquake and the other things that were happening, they became extremely frightened and said, “Truly this was [r](AC)the Son of God!”

55 (AD)And many women were there watching from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee while (AE)caring for Him. 56 Among them were (AF)Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and (AG)the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

Jesus Is Buried

57 (AH)Now when it was evening, a rich man from Arimathea came, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. 58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. 59 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock; and he rolled (AI)a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away. 61 And (AJ)Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.

62 Now on the next day, that is, the day which is after (AK)the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered together with Pilate, 63 and they said, “Sir, we remember that when that deceiver was still alive, He said, ‘(AL)After three days I am rising.’ 64 Therefore, give orders for the tomb to be made secure until the third day; otherwise, His disciples may come and steal Him, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.” 65 Pilate said to them, “You have a (AM)guard; go, make it as secure as you know how.” 66 And they went and made the tomb secure with (AN)the guard, (AO)sealing (AP)the stone.

The Lord, a Provider and the One Who Rescues Me.

A Psalm of David, when he pretended to be insane before [a]Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.

34 I will (A)bless the Lord at all times;
His (B)praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul will (C)make its boast in the Lord;
The (D)humble will hear it and rejoice.
(E)Exalt the Lord with me,
And let’s (F)exalt His name together.

I (G)sought the Lord and He answered me,
And (H)rescued me from all my fears.
They (I)looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will (J)never be ashamed.
This wretched man cried out, and (K)the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The (L)angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

(M)Taste and see that the Lord is good;
How (N)blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
Fear the Lord, you (O)His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is (P)no lack of anything.
10 The young lions do without and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the Lord will (Q)not lack any good thing.
