Zstąpienie Ducha Świętego
2 A gdy nadszedł dzień Pięćdziesiątnicy, byli wszyscy razem zgromadzeni w jednym miejscu. 2 Nagle od strony nieba dał się słyszeć szum. Był jak uderzenie potężnego wiatru. Wypełnił cały dom, w którym się zebrali. 3 Wówczas zobaczyli jakby języki ognia. Rozdzieliły się one i spoczęły na każdym z nich. 4 Wszyscy zostali napełnieni Duchem Świętym i zaczęli mówić innymi językami, stosownie do tego, jak Duch im to umożliwiał.
5 W Jerozolimie natomiast byli obecni religijni Żydzi, którzy przybyli z ziem zamieszkanych przez wszystkie narody pod niebem. 6 Odgłos uderzenia wiatru przyciągnął cały tłum takich ludzi. Każdy, kto przybył, był zdziwiony, że słyszy ich mówiących w jego własnym języku.
7 Czy ci wszyscy, którzy mówią, nie są Galilejczykami? — pytali zaskoczeni i zdumieni. — 8 Więc jak to się dzieje, że każdy z nas słyszy swój własny dialekt, w którym się urodził? 9 My Partowie, Medowie, Elamici, mieszkańcy Mezopotamii, Judei, Kapadocji, Pontu, Azji, 10 Frygii, Pamfilii, Egiptu i tych części Libii, które leżą koło Cyreny, przybysze z Rzymu — 11 zarówno Żydzi, jak i prozelici — Kreteńczycy oraz Arabowie — słyszymy ich, jak w naszych językach mówią o wielkich dziełach Boga. 12 Wszyscy zatem, zaskoczeni i oniemiali, mówili jeden do drugiego: Co to wszystko znaczy?
13 Ale byli i tacy, którzy drwili: Ci ludzie upili się młodym winem.
Mowa Piotra
14 Wówczas powstał Piotr wraz z jedenastoma, podniósł swój głos i wyraźnie przemówił do zgromadzonych: Judejczycy i wy, którzy przebywacie w Jerozolimie! Posłuchajcie uważnie tego, co mam wam do powiedzenia. 15 Wbrew waszym przypuszczeniom, ci ludzie nie są pijani. Jest dopiero dziewiąta rano.[a] 16 Tu chodzi o to, co zapowiedział prorok Joel:
17 Oto w dniach ostatecznych — mówi Pan —
wyleję z mego Ducha na wszystkich, bez wyjątku.
Prorokować będą wasi synowie i córki.
Wasza młodzież będzie przeżywać widzenia,
a starcom dane będą sny.
18 W tych dniach wyleję z mego Ducha
nawet na moich niewolników i niewolnice.
Będą prorokować!
19 Dokonam cudów na niebie — w górze,
oraz znaków na ziemi — na dole.
Będzie krew i ogień, będą kłęby dymu.
20 Zanim przyjdzie dzień Pana,
wielki i wspaniały,
słońce przemieni się w ciemność,
a księżyc w krew.
21 Wówczas każdy, kto wezwie na ratunek imienia Pana,
będzie zbawiony.
22 Izraelici! Posłuchajcie tych słów. Będę mówił o Jezusie z Nazaretu. Wskazał wam na Niego sam Bóg przez dzieła dokonane w mocy, przez cuda oraz znaki. Tego wszystkiego Bóg dokonał wśród was za Jego pośrednictwem. Sami o tym wiecie. 23 Następnie został On wydany zgodnie z wcześniejszym postanowieniem i uprzednią wiedzą Boga. Jego to przybiliście do krzyża rękami ludzi lekceważących Prawo[b] i w ten sposób zamordowaliście. 24 Bóg jednak wzbudził Go. Zerwał więzy śmierci! Było niemożliwe, aby był On przez nią trzymany. 25 Dawid bowiem tak mówi o Nim:
Pan jest u mnie zawsze na pierwszym miejscu,
Z Nim u mej prawicy nie zachwieję się.
26 Dlatego poweselało me serce, radość wyraża mój język,
Więcej! Ciało również odpocznie w nadziei,
27 Gdyż nie zostawisz mojej duszy w świecie zmarłych
i nie dopuścisz, aby Twój Święty
został dotknięty skażeniem.
28 Dałeś mi poznać drogi życia,
Pełną radość przebywania w Twojej obecności.
29 Drodzy bracia, mogę śmiało powiedzieć, że patriarcha Dawid umarł i został pochowany, a jego grób jest wśród nas do dzisiejszego dnia. 30 Był on jednak prorokiem. Jako taki wiedział o tym, że jeden z jego potomków[c] zasiądzie na jego tronie. Bóg mu to potwierdził przysięgą. 31 Dlatego w swoich słowach odniósł się do zmartwychwstania Chrystusa, które uprzednio zobaczył. Powiedział, że Chrystus nie pozostanie w świecie zmarłych ani Jego ciało nie dozna rozkładu.
32 I to właśnie Jezusa wzbudził Bóg, czego my wszyscy jesteśmy świadkami. 33 Został On następnie wyniesiony do nieba. Tam zajął miejsce po prawej stronie Boga. Otrzymał od Ojca obietnicę — Ducha Świętego. I tego Ducha wylał na nas, co sami widzicie i słyszycie. 34 Bo to nie Dawid wstąpił do nieba, a jednak sam mówi:
Pan oświadczył memu Panu:
Usiądź po mojej prawicy,
35 Aż położę Twoich wrogów
jako podnóżek dla Twoich stóp.
36 A zatem niech wie to na pewno cały dom Izraela, że Bóg ustanowił Panem i Chrystusem tego Jezusa, którego wy ukrzyżowaliście.
37 Słowa te przeszyły ich do głębi serca. Przerażeni zwrócili się do Piotra i pozostałych apostołów: Drodzy bracia, co mamy teraz robić?
38 Opamiętajcie się — odpowiedział Piotr — i niech każdy z was da się ochrzcić w imię Jezusa Chrystusa dla odpuszczenia waszych grzechów, a otrzymacie dar — Ducha Świętego. 39 Obietnica ta bowiem odnosi się do was, do waszych dzieci oraz do wszystkich nienależących do was,[d] ilu ich tylko Pan, nasz Bóg, powoła.
40 W inny też sposób, jeszcze wyraźniej, składał im mocne świadectwo i zachęcał: Ratujcie się spośród tego wypaczonego pokolenia!
41 Ci więc, którzy przyjęli jego słowa, zostali ochrzczeni i tego dnia dołączyło do nich około trzech tysięcy osób.[e]
Życie we wczesnym Kościele
42 Trwali oni w nauce apostołów, we wspólnocie, razem łamali chleb i nie ustawali w modlitwie.
43 Każda osoba była przejęta lękiem przed Panem, ponieważ za sprawą apostołów działo się wiele cudów i znaków. 44 A wszyscy wierzący trzymali się razem i mieli wszystko wspólne. 45 Sprzedawali przy tym posiadłości oraz mienie i uzyskane w ten sposób środki dzielili między sobą, zgodnie z tym, jaką kto miał potrzebę. 46 Codziennie też jednomyślnie gromadzili się w świątyni, a łamiąc chleb po domach, przyjmowali pokarm z wielką radością i w prostocie serca. 47 Wielbili przy tym Boga i cieszyli się łaskawym przyjęciem u całego ludu. Pan natomiast codziennie dodawał do ich grona tych, którzy dostępowali zbawienia.

2 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Den helige Ande kommer
2 Sju veckor hade nu gått sedan Jesus dog och uppstod, och pingstdagen kom. När de troende hade samlats den dagen,
2 hördes plötsligt ett dån från himlen, som ljudet av en våldsam storm, och det fyllde huset där de var samlade.
3 Sedan visade sig något som såg ut som flammor eller eldstungor, och dessa stannade över deras huvuden.
4 Och allesammans blev fyllda av den helige Ande och började tala språk som de i vanliga fall inte kunde, men som den helige Ande inspirerade dem till.
5 Många fromma judar från olika länder var i Jerusalem den dagen för att vara med och fira pingsthögtiden.
6 När de hörde dånet i skyn ovanför huset, kom många springande för att se vad som stod på. När de nu hörde lärjungarna tala deras egna språk, blev de alldeles förbluffade.
7 Hur kan det komma sig? ropade de. De här männen kommer ju alla från Galileen,
8 och ändå hör vi dem tala på våra egna språk.
9 Här är vi, parter, meder, elamiter. Vi är från Mesopotamien, Judeen, Kappadokien, Pontos, Asien,
10 Frygien, Pamfylien, Egypten och från trakten kring Kyrene i Libyen. Vi kommer från Rom, både judar och sådana som omvänts till judendomen,
11 vi är kreter och araber. Och ändå hör vi dessa män tala om Guds mäktiga under på vårt eget språk!
12 De stod där förvånade och häpna. Vad kan det här betyda? frågade de sig.
13 Men andra i folkskaran hånade dem: De är berusade, det är ju självklart! sa de.
Petrus tal på pingstdagen
14 Då steg Petrus fram tillsammans med de elva apostlarna och ropade till folket: Hör på allesammans, både jerusalemsbor och ni som är här på besök!
15 Några av er säger att de här männen är berusade. Det är inte sant. Det är alldeles för tidigt på dagen för det. Människor dricker sig inte berusade klockan nio på morgonen!
16 Nej, vad ni är vittnen till den här morgonen förutsas för flera hundra år sedan av profeten Joel:
17 'I de sista dagarna
18 Ja, den helige Ande ska komma till alla mina tjänare, både män och kvinnor, och de ska profetera.
19 Och ni ska se märkliga tecken både på himlen och på jorden: blod och eld och rökmoln.
20 Solen ska bli svart och månen blodröd innan Herrens stora dag kommer.
21 Men var och en som ber Herren om barmhärtighet ska få det och bli frälst.'
22 Hör på mig, ni israelitiska män! Gud gav Jesus från Nasaret sitt erkännande inför alla människor genom att låta honom utföra de mest fantastiska under. Det vet ni alla.
23 Men Gud följde sin uppgjorda plan och tillät er att med hjälp av den romerska staten spika fast honom vid korset och döda honom.
24 Sedan befriade Gud honom från dödens vånda och förde honom tillbaka till livet, för döden kunde inte hålla honom i sitt grepp.
25 Kung David säger om Jesus: 'Jag vet att Herren alltid är med mig. Han hjälper mig. Guds stora kraft håller mig uppe.
26 Därför är mitt hjärta fyllt av glädje, och min tunga ropar ut hans lov! För jag vet att allt kommer att gå väl för mig när jag dör.
27 Du kommer inte att lämna min själ i helvetet, eller låta din helige Sons kropp förgås.
28 Du kommer att ge mig livet tillbaka och fylla mig med underbar glädje när jag är i din närhet.'
29 Tänk efter, kära bröder! David talade inte om sig själv när han skrev de ord som jag har citerat, för han dog och blev begravd, och hans grav finns fortfarande här ibland oss.
30 Men han var en profet och visste att Gud hade gett ett löfte som inte kunde brytas. Han hade lovat att en av Davids efterkommande skulle bli Messias och sitta på Davids tron.
31 David såg framåt och förutsa att Messias skulle uppstå med orden: ''Hans sj¤l ska inte l¤mnas i helvetet, och hans kropp ska inte f´rmultna.''
32 Det var alltså om Jesus han talade, och vi är alla vittnen till att Jesus uppstod från de döda.
33 Och Gud har upprest honom och nu sitter han på hedersplatsen vid Guds högra sida. Och precis som Fadern har lovat, har Jesus fått motta den helige Ande, vilken han sedan har sänt till er med det resultat ni ser och hör i dag.
34 Nej, det var inte om sig själv David talade i de ord som jag citerade nyss, för han for aldrig upp till himlen. Dessutom sa han också: 'Gud talade till min Herre, Messias, och sa till honom: Sitt här på hedersplatsen bredvid mig,
35 tills jag lägger dina fiender för dina fötter!'
36 Därför säger jag utan omsvep till alla i Israel att Gud har gjort denne Jesus, som ni korsfäste, till Herre och Messias!
37 Petrus ord rörde dem djupt, och de frågade honom och de andra apostlarna: Bröder, vad ska vi göra?
38 Petrus svarade: Var och en av er måste vända sig bort från synden och komma tillbaka till Gud och bli döpt i Jesu Kristi namn till syndernas förlåtelse. Då kommer ni också att få den helige Ande som gåva.
39 Kristus har nämligen lovat att den helige Ande ska ges till var och en som har blivit kallad av Herren vår Gud, och till era barn, ja till och med till dem som bor i andra länder!
40 Sedan höll Petrus en lång predikan och berättade om Jesus och uppmanade med stor kraft alla som lyssnade att ta emot frälsning och rädda sig undan detta onda släkte.
41 Och de som lät sig överbevisas av det Petrus sa döptes - tillsammans cirka tretusen personer.
Den första kristna församlingen
42 De förenade sig med de andra troende och deltog regelbundet i apostlarnas undervisning, i gudstjänsterna, i brödsbrytelsen och i bönen.
43 Och en känsla av djup respekt fanns hos alla, för apostlarna utförde många under.
44 Och alla de troende var ständigt tillsammans och delade allt med varandra.
45 De sålde sina tillhörigheter och delade med sig till dem som behövde något.
46 Varje dag bad de tillsammans i templet, och i hemmen samlades de i små grupper för att bryta bröd. De delade sina måltider i uppriktig glädje och tacksamhet
47 och lovprisade Gud. Och alla i staden var vänligt inställda till dem, och varje dag växte församlingen i antal eftersom Gud frälste många.
