Deuteronomy 18:15
New International Version
15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites.(A) You must listen to him.
Deuteronomy 18:18-19
New International Version
18 I will raise up for them a prophet(A) like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words(B) in his mouth.(C) He will tell them everything I command him.(D) 19 I myself will call to account(E) anyone who does not listen(F) to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.(G)
Isaiah 6
New International Version
Isaiah’s Commission
6 In the year that King Uzziah(A) died,(B) I saw the Lord,(C) high and exalted,(D) seated on a throne;(E) and the train of his robe(F) filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim,(G) each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet,(H) and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.(M)
5 “Woe(N) to me!” I cried. “I am ruined!(O) For I am a man of unclean lips,(P) and I live among a people of unclean lips,(Q) and my eyes have seen(R) the King,(S) the Lord Almighty.”(T)
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal(U) in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips;(V) your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.(W)”
8 Then I heard the voice(X) of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?(Y) And who will go for us?(Z)”
And I said, “Here am I.(AA) Send me!”
9 He said, “Go(AB) and tell this people:
“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’(AC)
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;(AD)
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.[a](AE)
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,(AF)
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”(AG)
11 Then I said, “For how long, Lord?”(AH)
And he answered:
“Until the cities lie ruined(AI)
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted(AJ)
and the fields ruined and ravaged,(AK)
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away(AL)
and the land is utterly forsaken.(AM)
13 And though a tenth remains(AN) in the land,
it will again be laid waste.(AO)
But as the terebinth and oak
leave stumps(AP) when they are cut down,
so the holy(AQ) seed will be the stump in the land.”(AR)

Isaiah 53:1
New International Version
Isaiah 53:4-6
New International Version
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,(A)
yet we considered him punished by God,(B)
stricken by him, and afflicted.(C)
5 But he was pierced(D) for our transgressions,(E)
he was crushed(F) for our iniquities;
the punishment(G) that brought us peace(H) was on him,
and by his wounds(I) we are healed.(J)
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,(K)
each of us has turned to our own way;(L)
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity(M) of us all.
John 12:36-50
New International Version
36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.”(A) When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.(B)
Belief and Unbelief Among the Jews
37 Even after Jesus had performed so many signs(C) in their presence, they still would not believe in him. 38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet:
39 For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:
40 “He has blinded their eyes
and hardened their hearts,
so they can neither see with their eyes,
nor understand with their hearts,
nor turn—and I would heal them.”[b](E)
41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory(F) and spoke about him.(G)
42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him.(H) But because of the Pharisees(I) they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;(J) 43 for they loved human praise(K) more than praise from God.(L)
44 Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.(M) 45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.(N) 46 I have come into the world as a light,(O) so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
47 “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.(P) 48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them(Q) at the last day. 49 For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me(R) to say all that I have spoken. 50 I know that his command leads to eternal life.(S) So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”(T)
