¹⁶ who fed you in the wilderness with ^(A)manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, ^(B)to do you good in the end— ¹⁷ then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’

¹⁸ “And you shall remember the Lord your God, ^(C)for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, ^(D)that He may ^[a]establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

^8 (A)This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but ^(B)you^[a] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. ^9 (C)Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; ^(D)do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Meditate on These Things

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are ^(A)true, whatever things are ^(B)noble, whatever things are ^(C)just, ^(D)whatever things are pure, whatever things are ^(E)lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

^27 (A)Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: ^(B)to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, ^(C)and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
