Deuteronomy 7:7-11

New International Version

⁷The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous^(A) than other peoples, for you were the fewest^(B) of all peoples.^(C) ⁸But it was because the Lord loved^(D) you and kept the oath he swore^(E) to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand^(F) and redeemed^(G) you from the land of slavery,^(H) from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. ⁹Know therefore that the Lord your God is God;^(I) he is the faithful God,^(J) keeping his covenant of love^(K) to a thousand generations^(L) of those who love him and keep his commandments.^(M) ¹⁰But

those who hate him he will repay to their face by destruction;
he will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate him.^(N)

¹¹Therefore, take care to follow the commands, decrees and laws I give you today.

⁷“^(A)The Lord did not ^[a]make you His beloved nor choose you because you were greater in number than any of the peoples, since you were the fewest of all peoples, ⁸but because the Lord loved you and kept the ^(B)oath which He swore to your forefathers, ^(C)the Lord brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of ^[b]slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. ⁹Know therefore that the Lord your God, ^(D)He is God, ^(E)the faithful God, ^(F)who keeps ^[c]His covenant and ^[d]His faithfulness to a thousand generations for those who ^(G)love Him and keep His commandments; ¹⁰but He ^(H)repays those who hate Him to ^[e]their faces, to eliminate ^[f]them; He will not hesitate toward him who hates Him, He will repay him to his face. ¹¹Therefore, you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which I am commanding you today, to do them.
