10 “And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities (A)that you did not build, 11 and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant—and when you eat and are full, 12 (B)then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 13 It is (C)the Lord your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and (D)by his name you shall swear. 14 You shall not (E)go after other gods, (F)the gods of the peoples who are around you— 15 for (G)the Lord your God in your midst (H)is a jealous God—(I)lest the anger of the Lord your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.

16 (J)“You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, (K)as you tested him at Massah. 17 You shall (L)diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you. 18 (M)And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may go well with you, and that you may go in and take possession of the good land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers 19 (N)by thrusting out all your enemies from before you, as the Lord has promised.

Remembering God through Obedience

10 “When the Lord your God brings you into the land He swore to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that He would give you—a land with large and beautiful cities that you did not build, 11 houses full of every good thing that you did not fill them with, wells dug that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant(A)—and when you eat and are satisfied,(B) 12 be careful not to forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.(C) 13 Fear Yahweh your God, worship Him, and take your oaths in His name.(D) 14 Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you, 15 for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God.(E) Otherwise, the Lord your God will become angry with you and wipe you off the face of the earth. 16 Do not test(F) the Lord your God as you tested Him at Massah.(G) 17 Carefully observe the commands of the Lord your God, the decrees and statutes He has commanded you. 18 Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so that you may prosper and so that you may enter and possess the good land(H) the Lord your God swore to give your fathers,(I) 19 by driving out all your enemies before you, as the Lord has said.(J)
