The Ten Commandments Repeated
5 Then Moses summoned all Israel and said to them:
“Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the judgments which I am speaking today in your [a]hearing, that you may learn them and be careful to do them. 2 Yahweh our God cut (A)a covenant with us at Horeb. 3 (B)Yahweh did not cut this covenant with our fathers, but with us, with all those of [b]us alive here today. 4 Yahweh spoke to you (C)face to face at the mountain (D)from the midst of the fire. 5 (E)I was standing between Yahweh and you at that time, to declare to you the word of Yahweh; (F)for you were afraid because of the fire and did not go up the mountain. Ten Commandments for the Covenant Community
5 Moses called all the people of Israel together and said, “Listen carefully, Israel. Hear the decrees and regulations I am giving you today, so you may learn them and obey them!
2 “The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Mount Sinai.[a] 3 The Lord did not make this covenant with our ancestors, but with all of us who are alive today. 4 At the mountain the Lord spoke to you face to face from the heart of the fire. 5 I stood as an intermediary between you and the Lord, for you were afraid of the fire and did not want to approach the mountain. He spoke to me, and I passed his words on to you. This is what he said:
