¹² “‘Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. ¹³ For six days you shall labour and do all your work, ¹⁴ but ^(A)the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, ^(B)that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

^19 (A)Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

²⁹ And the Levite, because ^(A)he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled, that ^(B)the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do.

The Feast of Weeks

^9 (A)“You shall count seven weeks. Begin to count the seven weeks from the time the sickle is first put to the standing corn. ¹⁰ Then you shall keep ^(B)the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with ^(C)the tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give ^(D)as the Lord your God blesses you. ¹¹ And ^(E)you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your towns, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell there.

¹⁴ “You shall not ^(A)oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns. ^15 (B)You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and counts on it), ^(C)lest he cry against you to the Lord, and you be guilty of sin.

^17 (A)“You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, ^(B)or take a widow's garment in pledge, ¹⁸ but ^(C)you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this.

^19 (A)“‘Cursed be anyone who perverts the justice due to the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

^12 (A)Assemble the people, men, women, and little ones, and the sojourner within your towns, that they may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God, and be careful to do all the words of this law, ¹³ and that their children, ^(B)who have not known it, ^(C)may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God, ^(D)as long as you live in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.”
