Cities of Refuge East of the Jordan

41 Then Moses (A)set apart three cities on this side of the Jordan, toward the rising of the sun, 42 (B)that the manslayer might flee there, who kills his neighbor unintentionally, without having hated him in time past, and that by fleeing to one of these cities he might live: 43 (C)Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau for the Reubenites, Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan for the Manassites.

41 Then Moses set apart three cities on the other side of the Jordan,[a] toward the east,[b] 42 in order for a manslayer[c] to flee there who has killed his neighbor without intent[d] and was not hating him previously,[e] and so he could flee to one of these cities and be safe.[f] 43 He set apart Bezer in the wilderness[g] in the land of the plateau of the Reubenites;[h] Ramoth in Gilead of the Gadites,[i] and Golan in Bashan of the Manassites.[j]
