³⁷ Because He loved^(A) your fathers, He chose their descendants after them and brought you out of Egypt by His presence and great power,

⁶ For you are a holy people^(A) belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be His own possession^(B) out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

⁷ “The Lord was devoted to you and chose you, not because you were more numerous than all peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. ⁸ But because the Lord loved^(C) you and kept the oath He swore to your fathers, He brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed^(D) you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹⁴ The heavens, indeed the highest heavens, belong to the Lord your God, as does the earth and everything in it. ¹⁵ Yet the Lord was devoted to your fathers and loved them.^(A) He chose their descendants after them—He chose you out of all the peoples, as it is today.

²⁶ Didn’t King Solomon of Israel sin in matters like this? There was not a king like him among many nations. He was loved by his God and God made him king over all Israel, yet foreign women drew him into sin.^(A)
