²⁷ He subdues the ancient gods,^[a]
    shatters^[b] the forces of old;^[c]
he drove out the enemy before you
    and said, ‘Destroy!’^(A)

² The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer,
    my God, my rock in whom I take refuge,
    my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.^(A)

⁴ For you have been a refuge to the poor,
    a refuge to the needy in their distress,
    a shelter from the rainstorm and a shade from the heat.
When the blast of the ruthless was like a winter rainstorm,^(A)

¹ God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present^[a] help in trouble.^(A)

¹⁰ The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
    the righteous run into it and are safe.^(A)

¹ Lord, you have been our dwelling place^[a]
    in all generations.^(A)
2 Before the mountains were brought forth
    or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
    from everlasting to everlasting you are God.^(B)

¹ You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
