    ^(C)you grew fat, stout, and sleek;
^(D)then he forsook God ^(E)who made him
    and scoffed at ^(F)the Rock of his salvation.

¹⁸ You were unmindful of ^(A)the Rock that bore^[a] you,
    and you ^(B)forgot the God who gave you birth.

³⁰ How could ^(A)one have chased a thousand,
    and two have put ten thousand to flight,
unless their Rock ^(B)had sold them,
    and the Lord had given them up?
³¹ For ^(C)their rock is not as our Rock;
    ^(D)our enemies are by themselves.
