²⁹ For I know that after my death you are sure to become utterly corrupt^(A) and to turn from the way I have commanded you. In days to come, disaster^(B) will fall on you because you will do evil in the sight of the Lord and arouse his anger by what your hands have made.”

⁷ Moreover, the word of the Lord came^(A) through the prophet Jehu^(B) son of Hanani to Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger by the things he did, becoming like the house of Jeroboam—and also because he destroyed it.

⁶ Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, “My vow was a mistake.” Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands?
