^18 (A)so that there will not be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the Lord our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; that there will not be among you ^(B)a root bearing poisonous fruit and wormwood. ¹⁹ And it shall be when he hears the words of this curse, that he will consider himself fortunate in his heart, saying, ‘I will do well though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart in order ^[a]to destroy the watered land along with the dry.’

⁹ As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, ^(A)when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent.”

³ While they are saying, “^(A)Peace and safety!” then ^(B)sudden destruction ^[a]will come upon them like ^(C)labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
