24 If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him(A) because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce,(B) gives it to her and sends her from his house, 2 and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, 3 and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, 4 then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the Lord. Do not bring sin upon the land the Lord(C) your God is giving you as an inheritance.
5 If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.(D)
6 Do not take a pair of millstones—not even the upper one—as security for a debt, because that would be taking a person’s livelihood as security.(E)
7 If someone is caught kidnapping a fellow Israelite and treating or selling them as a slave, the kidnapper must die.(F) You must purge the evil from among you.(G)
8 In cases of defiling skin diseases,[a] be very careful to do exactly as the Levitical(H) priests instruct you. You must follow carefully what I have commanded them.(I) 9 Remember what the Lord your God did to Miriam along the way after you came out of Egypt.(J)
10 When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, do not go into their house to get what is offered to you as a pledge.(K) 11 Stay outside and let the neighbor to whom you are making the loan bring the pledge out to you. 12 If the neighbor is poor, do not go to sleep with their pledge(L) in your possession. 13 Return their cloak by sunset(M) so that your neighbor may sleep in it.(N) Then they will thank you, and it will be regarded as a righteous act in the sight of the Lord your God.(O)
14 Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns.(P) 15 Pay them their wages each day before sunset, because they are poor(Q) and are counting on it.(R) Otherwise they may cry to the Lord against you, and you will be guilty of sin.(S)
16 Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.(T)
17 Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless(U) of justice,(V) or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge. 18 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt(W) and the Lord your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this.
19 When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it.(X) Leave it for the foreigner,(Y) the fatherless and the widow,(Z) so that the Lord your God may bless(AA) you in all the work of your hands. 20 When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time.(AB) Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. 21 When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. 22 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. That is why I command you to do this.(AC)

24 Si un hombre se casa con una mujer, pero luego deja de quererla por haber encontrado en ella algo indecoroso, solo podrá despedirla si le entrega un certificado de divorcio. 2 Una vez que ella salga de la casa, podrá casarse con otro hombre.
3 Si ocurre que el segundo esposo la aborrece, y también le extiende un certificado de divorcio y la despide de su casa, o si el segundo esposo muere, 4 el primer esposo no podrá casarse con ella de nuevo, pues habrá quedado impura. Eso sería abominable a los ojos del Señor.
No perviertas la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da como herencia.
5 No envíes a la guerra a ningún hombre recién casado ni le impongas ningún otro deber. Tendrá libre todo un año para atender su casa y hacer feliz a la mujer que tomó por esposa.
6 Si alguien se endeuda contigo, no tomes en garantía su molino de mano ni su piedra de moler, porque sería lo mismo que arrebatarle su propia subsistencia.
7 Si se descubre que alguien ha secuestrado a uno de sus hermanos israelitas y lo trata como esclavo o lo vende, el secuestrador morirá. Así erradicarás el mal que haya en medio de ti.
8 Cuando se trate de una infección de la piel,[a] ten mucho cuidado de seguir las instrucciones de los sacerdotes levitas. Sigue al pie de la letra todo lo que te he mandado. 9 Recuerda lo que el Señor tu Dios hizo con Miriam mientras andaban peregrinando, después de que el pueblo salió de Egipto.
10 Cuando hagas un préstamo a tu prójimo, no entres en su casa ni tomes lo que te ofrezca en garantía. 11 Quédate afuera y deja que él mismo te entregue la garantía. 12 Si es pobre y en prenda te ofrece su manto, no se lo retengas durante la noche. 13 Devuélveselo antes de la puesta del sol, para que se cubra con él durante la noche. Así estará él agradecido contigo y tú habrás actuado con justicia a los ojos del Señor tu Dios.
14 No te aproveches del jornalero pobre y necesitado, sea este un compatriota israelita o un extranjero. 15 Le pagarás su salario cada día, antes de la puesta del sol, porque es pobre y cuenta solo con ese dinero. De lo contrario, él clamará al Señor contra ti y tú resultarás culpable de pecado.
16 No se dará muerte a los padres por la culpa de sus hijos ni se dará muerte a los hijos por la culpa de sus padres. Cada uno morirá por su propio pecado.
17 No niegues sus derechos al extranjero ni al huérfano; tampoco tomes en garantía el manto de la viuda. 18 Recuerda que fuiste esclavo en Egipto y que el Señor tu Dios te sacó de allí. Por eso te ordeno que actúes con justicia.
19 Cuando recojas la cosecha de tu campo y olvides una gavilla, no vuelvas por ella. Déjala para el extranjero, el huérfano y la viuda. Así el Señor tu Dios bendecirá todo el trabajo de tus manos.
20 Cuando sacudas tus olivos, no rebusques en las ramas; las aceitunas que queden, déjalas para el extranjero, el huérfano y la viuda.
21 Cuando coseches las uvas de tu viña, no repases las ramas; los racimos que queden, déjalos para el extranjero, el huérfano y la viuda.
22 Recuerda que fuiste esclavo en Egipto. Por eso te ordeno que cumplas esto.

24 A man might marry a woman but later decide she doesn’t ·please him [L find favor in his eyes] because he has found something ·bad [indecent; objectionable] about her. He writes out divorce papers for her, ·gives them to her [L places them in her hand], and sends her away from his house. 2 After she leaves his house, she goes and marries another man, 3 but her second husband ·does not like her either [hates her]. So he writes out divorce papers for her, ·gives them to her [L places them in her hand], and sends her away from his house. Or the second husband might die. 4 In either case, her first husband who divorced her must not marry her again, because she has become ·unclean [C in a ritual sense]. The Lord would ·hate [detest] this. Don’t bring this sin into the land the Lord your God is giving you as your ·own [L inheritance; Matt. 5:31–32; 19:3–9].
5 A man who has just married must not be sent ·to war [L with the army] or be given any other duty. He should be free to stay home for a year to make his new wife happy [20:7].
6 If someone owes you ·something [a pledge], do not take his two stones for grinding grain—not even the upper one—·in place of what he owes [as a pledge], ·because this is how the person makes a living [L that would be taking a person’s life as a pledge].
7 If someone ·kidnaps a fellow Israelite [L is found stealing one of his brothers from among the sons/T children of Israel], either to make him a slave or sell him, the ·kidnapper [robber] must be killed. You must ·get rid of [banish; purge] the evil among you [Ex. 21:16].
8 Be careful when someone has a ·skin disease [T leprosy; C the term does not refer to modern leprosy (Hansen’s disease), but to various skin disorders; Lev. 13:2]. Do exactly what the priests, the Levites, teach you, being careful to do what I have commanded them. 9 Remember what the Lord your God did to Miriam on your way out of Egypt [Num. 12:10].
10 When you make a loan to your neighbors, don’t go into their homes to get ·something in place of it [a pledge]. 11 Stay outside and let them go in and get what they ·promised [pledged to] you. 12 If a poor person gives you a ·coat to show he will pay the loan back [L pledge], don’t keep it overnight. 13 Give the ·coat [L pledge] back at sunset, because your neighbor needs that coat to sleep in, and he will ·be grateful to [bless] you. And the Lord your God will see that you have done a ·good [righteous] thing.
14 Don’t ·cheat [oppress; exploit] hired servants who are poor and needy, whether they are ·fellow Israelites [relatives; brothers] or ·foreigners [resident aliens] living in one of your ·towns [gates]. 15 Pay them each day before sunset, because they are poor and need the money. Otherwise, they may ·complain [cry out] to the Lord about you, and you will be guilty of sin.
16 ·Parents [Fathers] must not be put to death if their children do wrong, and children must not be put to death if their ·parents [fathers] do wrong. Each person must die for his own sin [Jer. 31:29–30; Ezek. 18:1–4].
17 Do not be unfair to a ·foreigner [resident alien] or an orphan. Don’t take a widow’s coat ·to make sure she pays you back [as a pledge; 24:10–13]. 18 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt, and the Lord your God ·saved [ransomed; redeemed] you from there. That is why I am commanding you to do this.
19 When you are ·gathering [reaping] your harvest in the field and ·leave behind [L forget] a bundle of grain, don’t go back and get it. Leave it there for ·foreigners [resident aliens], orphans, and widows so that the Lord your God can bless everything you do [Ruth 2]. 20 When you beat your olive trees to knock the olives off, don’t ·beat the trees a second time. Leave […strip] what is left for ·foreigners [resident aliens], orphans, and widows. 21 When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, don’t ·pick the vines a second time [glean what is left]. Leave what is left for foreigners [resident aliens], orphans, and widows. 22 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt; that is why I am commanding you to do this [Ex. 23:11; Lev. 19:9–10; 23:22].
