²⁴ When a land falls into the hands of the wicked,^(A)
    he blindfolds its judges.^(B)
    If it is not he, then who is it?^(C)

²⁰ You overpower them once for all, and they are gone;^(A)
    you change their countenance and send them away.^(B)

⁸ though you were a powerful man, owning land^(A)—
    an honored man,^(B) living on it.^(C)

¹² The groans of the dying rise from the city,
    and the souls of the wounded cry out for help.^(A)
    But God charges no one with wrongdoing.^(B)

²² But God drags away the mighty by his power;^(A)
    though they become established,^(B) they have no assurance of life.^(C)

²⁰ They die in an instant, in the middle of the night;^(A)
    the people are shaken and they pass away;
    the mighty are removed without human hand.^(B)

²⁸ They caused the cry of the poor to come before him,
    so that he heard the cry of the needy.^(A)

⁹ “People cry out^(A) under a load of oppression;^(B)
    they plead for relief from the arm of the powerful.^(C)
