Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying, “Yahweh our God[a] spoke to us in Horeb, saying, ‘You have lived long enough at this mountain. Turn, and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the places near there: in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the lowland, in the South, by the seashore, in the land of the Canaanites, and in Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. Behold,[b] I have set the land before you. Go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob—to give to them and to their offspring[c] after them.’”

Moses Reviews God’s Instructions

East of the Jordan River, in the land of Moab, Moses began to expound this Law: “The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb. He said, ‘You have been at this mountain long enough. Break camp,[a] get going, and proceed to the hill country of the Amorites and all the nearby places in the Arabah desert, the highlands, the foothills, the Negev,[b] the coastal plains, all of the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon as far as the great river, the Euphrates. Look! I’ve given you the land that lies ahead. Go in and possess the land that I, the Lord, promised to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as well as to their descendants.’”
