^6 (A)On the ^[a]testimony of two witnesses or three witnesses, the ^[b]condemned shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the ^[c]testimony of only one witness. ^7 (B)The hands of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. ^(C)So you shall eliminate the evil from your midst.

¹⁵ “^(A)A single witness shall not rise up against a person regarding any wrongdoing or any sin ^[a]that he commits; on the ^[b]testimony of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed. ^16 (B)If a malicious witness rises up against a person to testify against him of wrongdoing, ¹⁷ then both people who have the dispute shall stand ^(C)before the Lord, before the priests and the judges who will be in office in those days. ¹⁸ And the judges ^(D)shall investigate thoroughly, and if the witness is a false witness and he has testified against his brother falsely, ¹⁹ then ^(E)you shall do to him just as he had planned to do to his brother. So you shall eliminate the evil from among you. ²⁰ And ^(F)the rest of the people will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such an evil thing among you. ²¹ So ^[c](G)you shall not show pity: ^(H)life for life, ^(I)eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot.

²⁸ “You shall not ^[a](A)curse God, ^(B)nor curse a ruler of your people.

¹³ Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁴ “Bring the one who has cursed outside the camp, and have all who heard him ^(A)lay their hands on his head; then ^(B)have all the congregation stone him. ¹⁵ You shall also speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘^(C)If anyone curses his God, then he will bear the responsibility for his sin. ¹⁶ Moreover, the one who ^(D)blasphemes the name of the Lord must be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The stranger as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.
