²⁰ Fear the Lord your God and serve him.^(A) Hold fast^(B) to him and take your oaths in his name.^(C)

² When a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.^(A)

³³ “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath,^(A) but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’^(B)

⁷ Do not be deceived:^(A) God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.^(B)
