¹⁵ So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and experienced men, ^(A)and set them as heads over you, commanders of thousands, commanders of hundreds, commanders of fifties, commanders of tens, and officers, throughout your tribes. ¹⁶ And I charged your judges at that time, ‘Hear the cases between your brothers, and ^(B)judge righteously between a man and his brother or the alien who is with him. ^17 (C)You shall not be partial in judgment. You shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be intimidated by anyone, for ^(D)the judgment is God's. And the case that is too hard for you, you shall ^(E)bring to me, and I will hear it.’ ¹⁸ And I commanded you at that time all the things that you should do.

^18 (A)He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. ^19 (B)Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

^19 (A)You shall not pervert justice. ^(B)You shall not show partiality, ^(C)and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous.

^17 (A)“You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, ^(B)or take a widow's garment in pledge,

^19 (A)“‘Cursed be anyone who perverts the justice due to the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
