(A)Do not say in your heart when the Lord your God has driven them away from [a]you, ‘Because of my righteousness the Lord has brought me in to take possession of this land.’ Rather, it is (B)because of the [b]wickedness of these nations that the Lord is dispossessing them before you. It is (C)not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you are going in to take possession of their land, [c]but it is because of the [d]wickedness of these nations that the Lord your God is driving them out from before you, and in order to confirm (D)the [e]oath which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

After the Lord your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself,(A) “The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness(B) of these nations(C) that the Lord is going to drive them out before you. Israel to Be Renewed for His Name’s Sake

22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Lord God says: “It is (A)not for your sake, house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for My holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went. 23 And I will (B)vindicate the holiness of My great name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them. Then the (C)nations will know that I am the Lord,” declares the Lord God, “when I show Myself holy among you in their sight. 24 For I will (D)take you from the nations, and gather you from all the lands; and I will bring you into your own land. 25 Then I will (E)sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your (F)filthiness and from all your (G)idols. 26 Moreover, I will give you a (H)new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the (I)heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will (J)put My Spirit within you and bring it about that you walk in My statutes, and are careful and [a]follow My ordinances. 28 And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be (K)My people, and I will be your God. 29 Moreover, I will save you from all your uncleanness; and I will call for the grain and multiply it, and I (L)will not [b]bring a famine on you. 30 Instead, I will (M)multiply the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field, so that you will not receive again the disgrace of famine among the nations. 31 Then you will (N)remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your wrongdoings and your abominations. 32 I am not doing this (O)for your sake,” declares the Lord God; “let that be known to you. Be ashamed and humiliated for your ways, house of Israel!”
