2 And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you (A)these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, (B)testing you (C)to know what was in your heart, (D)whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled you and (E)let you hunger and (F)fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that (G)man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word[a] that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 (H)Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years.

2 Remember how the Lord your God led(A) you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test(B) you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled(C) you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna,(D) which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach(E) you that man does not live on bread(F) alone but on every word that comes from the mouth(G) of the Lord.(H) 4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.(I)
