Yahweh’s Covenant Blessings

¹² “^(A)Then it will be, because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them, that Yahweh your God will keep with you ^[a]His covenant and ^[b]His lovingkindness which He swore to your fathers. ¹³ And He will ^(B)love you and bless you and ^(C)multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock, ^[c]in the land which He swore to your fathers to give you. ¹⁴ You shall be blessed above all peoples; there will be no male or female ^(D)barren among you or among your cattle. ^15 (E)And Yahweh will take away from you all sickness; and He will not put on you any of the harmful diseases of Egypt which you have known, but He will give them to all who hate you. ¹⁶ And you shall consume all the peoples whom Yahweh your God will give over to you; ^(F)your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that would be ^(G)a snare to you.

¹⁷ “If you should say in your heart, ‘These nations are more numerous than I; how can I ^(H)dispossess them?’ ¹⁸ you shall not be afraid of them; you shall well ^(I)remember what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt: ^19 (J)the great trials which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which Yahweh your God brought you out. So shall Yahweh your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. ²⁰ Moreover, Yahweh your God will send ^(K)the hornet against them until those who remain and hide themselves from you perish. ²¹ You shall not dread ^[d]them, for ^(L)Yahweh your God is in your midst, ^(M)a great and fearsome God. ^22 (N)And Yahweh your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, lest the ^[e]wild beasts become too numerous for you. ^23 (O)But Yahweh your God will give them over before you and will ^[f]throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed. ^24 (P)And He will give their kings into your hand so that you will make their name perish from under heaven; ^(Q)no man will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them. ²⁵ The graven images of their gods you are to ^(R)burn with fire; you shall ^(S)not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be ^(T)snared by it, for it is an ^(U)abomination to Yahweh your God. ²⁶ And you shall not bring an abomination into your house and become devoted to ^(V)destruction like it; you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is devoted to destruction.

¹³ “And it will be that, ^(A)if you listen obediently to my commandments which I am commanding you today, ^(B)to love Yahweh your God and to serve Him ^(C)with all your heart and all your soul,

Blessings for Keeping the Commandments

28 “^(A)Now it will be, if you diligently listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I am commanding you today, Yahweh your God ^(B)will set you high above all the nations of the earth. ² And all these blessings will come upon you and ^(C)overtake you if you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God:

³ “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be ^(D)in the ^[a]field.

⁴ “Blessed shall be the ^[b]offspring of your ^[c]body and the ^[d]produce of your ground and the ^[e]offspring of your beasts, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock.

⁵ “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.

⁶ “Blessed shall you be ^(E)when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.

⁷ “Yahweh shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be ^[f]defeated before you; they will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways. ⁸ Yahweh will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in ^(F)all that you send forth your hand to do, and He will bless you in the land which Yahweh your God gives you. ^9 (G)Yahweh will establish you as a holy people to Himself, as He swore to you, if you keep the commandments of Yahweh your God and walk in His ways. ¹⁰ So all the peoples of the earth will see that ^[g](H)you are called by the name of Yahweh, and they will be afraid of you. ^11 (I)And Yahweh will make you abound in prosperity, in the ^[h]offspring of your ^[i]body and in the ^[j]offspring of your beast and in the ^[k]produce of your ground, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give you. ¹² Yahweh will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and ^(J)you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. ^13 (K)And Yahweh will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am commanding you today, to keep and to do, ¹⁴ and ^(L)do not turn aside from any of the words which I am commanding you today, to the right or to the left, to walk after other gods to serve them.
