36 (A)Out of the heavens He let you hear His voice (B)to discipline you; and on earth He let you see His great fire, and you heard His words from the midst of the fire. 37 (C)Because He loved your fathers, He chose [a]their descendants after them. And He [b](D)personally brought you from Egypt by His great power, 38 driving out from before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in and (E)to give you their land as an inheritance, as it is today.

36 From heaven he made you hear his voice(A) to discipline(B) you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire. 37 Because he loved(C) your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength,(D) 38 to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance,(E) as it is today.
