The Choice of Life or Death

¹¹“This command I am giving you today is not too difficult for you, and it is not beyond your reach. ¹²It is not kept in heaven, so distant that you must ask, ‘Who will go up to heaven and bring it down so we can hear it and obey?’ ¹³It is not kept beyond the sea, so far away that you must ask, ‘Who will cross the sea to bring it to us so we can hear it and obey?’ ¹⁴No, the message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart so that you can obey it.

¹¹Indeed, these commands that I’m giving you today are neither confusing nor unattainable for you. ¹²They aren’t in the heavens, so you have to ask, ‘Who’ll go up to the heavens for us and get it for us so we can hear it and act on it?’ ¹³And they aren’t beyond the seas either, so you have to ask, ‘Who’ll cross the sea and get it for us so we can hear it and act on it?’ ¹⁴No, the word is very near you—it’s within your mouth and heart for you to attain.”

¹¹Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.^(A) ¹²It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven^(B) to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?”^(C) ¹³Nor is it beyond the sea,^(D) so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?”^(E) ¹⁴No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.^(F)
