48 you’ll serve your enemies whom the Lord your God will send against you. You will serve in famine and in drought,[a] in nakedness, and in lack of everything. They’ll[b] set a yoke of iron upon your neck until they[c] have exterminated you.

49 “The Lord will raise a distant nation against you from the other side of the earth. Swooping down like a vulture, 50 it will be a nation whose language you don’t understand, whose[d] stern appearance[e] neither shows regard[f] nor extends grace to anyone whether old or young.

49 The Lord will bring a nation against you(D) from far away, from the ends of the earth,(E) like an eagle(F) swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand,(G) 50 a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old(H) or pity for the young.
