46 The curses will be signs and miracles to you and your descendants forever. 47 You had plenty of everything. But you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and a pure heart. 48 So you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you. You will be hungry, thirsty, naked and poor. The Lord will put a load on you until he has destroyed you.

New International Version
46 They will be a sign and a wonder to you and your descendants forever.(A) 47 Because you did not serve(B) the Lord your God joyfully and gladly(C) in the time of prosperity, 48 therefore in hunger and thirst,(D) in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you. He will put an iron yoke(E) on your neck(F) until he has destroyed you.
