13 And the Lord will make (A)you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you [a]heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 (B)So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow(A) them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.(B) 14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left,(C) following other gods and serving them.
