Do Not Imitate Abominations

“When you enter the land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not learn to [a](A)imitate the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone (B)who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one (C)who practices soothsaying or one who interprets omens or a sorcerer, 11 or one who is an enchanter (D)or a medium or a spiritist or one who inquires of the dead. 12 For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh; and (E)because of these abominations Yahweh your God will dispossess them from before you. 13 (F)You shall be [b]blameless before Yahweh your God. 14 For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who (G)practice soothsaying and to diviners, but as for you, Yahweh your God has not allowed you to do so.

“When you come to the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you, you must not learn to do like the detestable practices of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you one who makes his son or his daughter go through the fire, or one who practices divination,[a] or an interpreter of signs,[b] or an augur,[c] or sorcerer, 11 or one who casts magic spells, or one who consults a spirit of the dead,[d] or spiritist, or one who inquires of the dead.[e] 12 For everyone doing these things is detestable to Yahweh, and because of these detestable things Yahweh your God is driving them out from before you.[f] 13 You must be blameless before Yahweh your God. 14 For these nations that you are about to dispossess listen to interpreters of signs[g] and to diviners, but Yahweh your God has not allowed you to do the same.

When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate(A) the detestable ways(B) of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire,(C) who practices divination(D) or sorcery,(E) interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,(F) 11 or casts spells,(G) or who is a medium or spiritist(H) or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.(I) 13 You must be blameless(J) before the Lord your God.(K)

The Prophet

14 The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination.(L) But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so.
