Deuteronomy 18:18-22
Common English Bible
18 I’ll raise up a prophet for them from among their fellow Israelites—one just like you. I’ll put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. 19 I myself will hold accountable anyone who doesn’t listen to my words, which that prophet will speak in my name. 20 However, any prophet who arrogantly speaks a word in my name that I haven’t commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods—that prophet must die.
21 Now, you might be wondering, How will we know which word God hasn’t spoken? 22 Here’s the answer: The prophet who speaks in the Lord’s name and the thing doesn’t happen or come about—that’s the word the Lord hasn’t spoken. That prophet spoke arrogantly. Don’t be afraid of him.[a]

Deuteronomy 18:18-22
New International Version
18 I will raise up for them a prophet(A) like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words(B) in his mouth.(C) He will tell them everything I command him.(D) 19 I myself will call to account(E) anyone who does not listen(F) to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.(G) 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods,(H) is to be put to death.”(I)
21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true,(J) that is a message the Lord has not spoken.(K) That prophet has spoken presumptuously,(L) so do not be alarmed.
