Pagan Practices Forbidden
14 You are children of the Lord your God. You must not lacerate yourselves or shave your forelocks for the dead. 2 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God; it is you the Lord has chosen out of all the peoples on earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
Clean and Unclean Foods
3 You shall not eat any abhorrent thing. 4 These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, 5 the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain-sheep. 6 Any animal that divides the hoof and has the hoof cleft in two, and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. 7 Yet of those that chew the cud or have the hoof cleft you shall not eat these: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger, because they chew the cud but do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you. 8 And the pig, because it divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. You shall not eat their meat, and you shall not touch their carcasses.
9 Of all that live in water you may eat these: whatever has fins and scales you may eat. 10 And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.
11 You may eat any clean birds. 12 But these are the ones that you shall not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey, 13 the buzzard, the kite of any kind; 14 every raven of any kind; 15 the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind; 16 the little owl and the great owl, the water hen 17 and the desert owl,[a] the carrion vulture and the cormorant, 18 the stork, the heron of any kind; the hoopoe and the bat.[b] 19 And all winged insects are unclean for you; they shall not be eaten. 20 You may eat any clean winged creature.
21 You shall not eat anything that dies of itself; you may give it to aliens residing in your towns for them to eat, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a people holy to the Lord your God.
You shall not boil a kid in its mother’s milk.
Regulations concerning Tithes
22 Set apart a tithe of all the yield of your seed that is brought in yearly from the field. 23 In the presence of the Lord your God, in the place that he will choose as a dwelling for his name, you shall eat the tithe of your grain, your wine, and your oil, as well as the firstlings of your herd and flock, so that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always. 24 But if, when the Lord your God has blessed you, the distance is so great that you are unable to transport it, because the place where the Lord your God will choose to set his name is too far away from you, 25 then you may turn it into money. With the money secure in hand, go to the place that the Lord your God will choose; 26 spend the money for whatever you wish—oxen, sheep, wine, strong drink, or whatever you desire. And you shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your household rejoicing together. 27 As for the Levites resident in your towns, do not neglect them, because they have no allotment or inheritance with you.
28 Every third year you shall bring out the full tithe of your produce for that year, and store it within your towns; 29 the Levites, because they have no allotment or inheritance with you, as well as the resident aliens, the orphans, and the widows in your towns, may come and eat their fill so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work that you undertake.

3 Non mangerai nessuna cosa abominevole.
4 Questi sono gli animali che potrete mangiare[a]: il bue, la pecora e la capra; 5 il cervo, la gazzella, il daino, lo stambecco, l’antilope, il capriolo e il camoscio. 6 Potrete mangiare ogni animale che ha l’unghia spartita, il piede forcuto e che rumina. 7 Ma non mangerete quelli che ruminano soltanto, o che hanno soltanto l’unghia spartita e il piede forcuto, e sono: il cammello, la lepre, l’irace, che ruminano ma non hanno l’unghia spartita; considerateli impuri; 8 anche il porco, che ha l’unghia spartita ma non rumina; lo considererete impuro. Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete i loro corpi morti.
9 Fra tutti gli animali che vivono nelle acque, potrete mangiare tutti quelli che hanno pinne e squame; 10 ma non mangerete nessuno di quelli che non hanno pinne e squame; considerateli impuri.
11 Potrete mangiare qualunque uccello puro; 12 ma ecco quelli che non dovete mangiare: l’aquila, l’ossìfraga e l’aquila di mare; 13 il nibbio, il falco e ogni specie di avvoltoio; 14 ogni specie di corvo; 15 lo struzzo, il barbagianni, il gabbiano e ogni specie di sparviero; 16 il gufo, l’ibis, il cigno; 17 il pellicano, il tùffolo, lo smergo; 18 la cicogna, ogni specie di airone, l’upupa e il pipistrello. 19 Considererete impuro ogni insetto alato; non se ne mangerà. 20 Potrete mangiare ogni volatile puro.
21 Non mangerete nessuna bestia morta da sé; la darai allo straniero che sarà nelle tue città perché la mangi, o la venderai a qualche estraneo; poiché tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore tuo Dio. Non farai cuocere il capretto nel latte di sua madre.
Le decime
22 (B)«Avrete cura di prelevare la decima da tutto quello che produrrà la tua semenza, da quello che ti frutterà il campo ogni anno. 23 Mangerai, in presenza del Signore tuo Dio, nel luogo che egli avrà scelto come dimora del suo nome, la decima del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio e i primi parti dei tuoi armenti e delle tue greggi, affinché tu impari a temere sempre il Signore, il tuo Dio. 24 Ma se il cammino è troppo lungo per te, e tu non puoi trasportare fin là quelle decime, essendo troppo lontano da te il luogo che il Signore, il tuo Dio, avrà scelto per stabilirvi il suo nome, perché il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti avrà benedetto, 25 allora le convertirai in denaro, terrai stretto in mano questo denaro, andrai al luogo che il Signore, il tuo Dio, avrà scelto. 26 Impiegherai quel denaro per comperarti tutto quello che il tuo cuore desidera: buoi, pecore, vino, bevande alcoliche, o qualunque cosa possa piacerti di più; e lì mangerai in presenza del Signore tuo Dio, e ti rallegrerai tu con la tua famiglia. 27 Non abbandonerai il Levita che abita nelle tue città, poiché non ha parte né eredità con te.
28 Alla fine di ogni triennio metterai da parte tutte le decime delle tue entrate di quell’anno e le depositerai dentro le tue città; 29 il Levita, che non ha parte né eredità con te, lo straniero, l’orfano e la vedova che abitano nelle tue città verranno, mangeranno e si sazieranno, affinché il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti benedica in ogni opera a cui porrai mano.

14 Ihr seid Kinder des Herrn, eures Gottes. Darum sollt ihr euch keine Einschnitte machen, noch euch über[a] euren Augen kahlscheren wegen eines Toten;
2 denn ein heiliges Volk bist du für den Herrn, deinen Gott, und dich hat der Herr erwählt, dass du ihm ein Volk des Eigentums seist unter allen Völkern, die auf Erden sind.
3 Du sollst nichts essen, was ein Gräuel ist.
4 Das aber sind die Tiere, die ihr essen dürft: Rind, Schaf und Ziege,
5 Hirsch und Gazelle und Damhirsch und Steinbock und Wisent und Antilope und Wildschaf;
6 und jedes Tier, das gespaltene Klauen hat, und zwar ganz gespaltene Klauen, und auch Wiederkäuer unter den Tieren, das dürft ihr essen.
7 Doch diese sollt ihr nicht essen von den Wiederkäuern und von denen, die vollständig gespaltene Klauen haben: das Kamel, den Hasen und den Klippdachs; denn obwohl sie wiederkäuen, haben sie doch nicht vollständig gespaltene Klauen; sie sollen euch unrein sein.
8 Das Schwein hat zwar ganz gespaltene Klauen, ist aber kein Wiederkäuer; es soll euch unrein sein. Von ihrem Fleisch sollt ihr nicht essen, und ihr Aas sollt ihr nicht anrühren.
9 Das ist es aber, was ihr essen dürft von allem, was in den Wassern ist: Alles, was Flossen und Schuppen hat, dürft ihr essen.
10 Was aber keine Flossen und Schuppen hat, sollt ihr nicht essen; es soll euch unrein sein.
11 Alle reinen Vögel[b] dürft ihr essen.
12 Diese aber sollt ihr nicht essen: den Adler, den Lämmergeier und den Seeadler,
13 die Weihe, den Habicht und die Geierarten,
14 alle Rabenarten,
15 den Strauß, die Eule, die Möwe und die Falkenarten,
16 das Käuzchen, den Ibis, die Schleiereule,
17 den Pelikan, den Aasgeier und den Kormoran,
18 den Storch, die Reiherarten, den Wiedehopf und die Fledermaus.
19 Auch alles geflügelte Kleingetier soll euch als unrein gelten, sie dürfen nicht gegessen werden.
20 Alle reinen Vögel dürft ihr essen.
21 Ihr sollt kein Aas essen; dem Fremdling in deinen Toren kannst du es geben, dass er es isst, oder einem Ausländer kannst du es verkaufen; denn ein heiliges Volk bist du für den Herrn, deinen Gott. Du sollst das Böcklein nicht in der Milch seiner Mutter kochen.
Der Zehnte
22 Du sollst allen Ertrag deiner Saat getreu verzehnten, was auf dem Feld wächst, Jahr für Jahr.[c]
23 Und du sollst essen vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, an dem Ort, den er erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen, den Zehnten deines Korns, deines Mosts, deines Öls und die Erstgeborenen von deinen Rindern und Schafen, damit du lernst, den Herrn, deinen Gott, allezeit zu fürchten.
24 Wenn dir aber der Weg zu weit ist und du es nicht hintragen kannst, weil der Ort, den der Herr, dein Gott, erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dorthin zu setzen, dir zu fern ist; wenn [nun] der Herr, dein Gott, dich segnet,
25 so verkaufe es und binde das Geld in deiner Hand zusammen und geh an den Ort, den der Herr, dein Gott, erwählen wird.
26 Und gib das Geld für das aus, was irgend dein Herz begehrt, es sei für Rinder, Schafe, Wein, starkes Getränk oder was sonst deine Seele wünscht, und iss dort vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, und sei fröhlich, du und dein Haus.
27 Den Leviten aber, der in deinen Toren ist, sollst du nicht im Stich lassen; denn er hat weder Teil noch Erbe mit dir.
28 Nach Verlauf von drei Jahren sollst du den ganzen Zehnten deines Ertrages von jenem Jahr aussondern und es in deinen Toren lassen.
29 Da soll dann der Levit kommen, weil er weder Teil noch Erbe mit dir hat, und der Fremdling und die Waise und die Witwe, die in deinen Toren sind, und sie sollen essen und sich sättigen, damit dich der Herr, dein Gott, segne in allen Werken deiner Hände, die du tust.

14 Mózes így folytatta: Ti az Örökkévalónak, Istenünknek gyermekei vagytok! Ezért, mikor valamilyen halottat gyászoltok, ne vagdossátok be magatokat, se ne nyírjátok le a hajatokat a homlokotok fölött![a]
2 Ne kövessétek ezeket a szokásokat, mert ti az Örökkévalónak, Istenünknek szent népe vagytok! Titeket az Örökkévaló a saját maga számára kiválasztott a föld összes nemzetei közül, ezért hozzá tartoztok.
A rituálisan tiszta és tisztátalan állatok(A)
3 Soha ne egyetek semmi olyan ételt, amely az Örökkévaló törvénye szerint utálatos és tisztátalan! 4 Megehetitek a következő állatok húsából készült ételeket: szarvasmarha, juh, kecske, 5 szarvas, gazella, őz, vadkecske, antilop, nyársas antilop, vadjuh 6 és minden olyan állat, amely kérődző és ugyanakkor a körme vagy patája egészen kettéhasított. 7 Azokat az állatokat, amelyek csak kérődzők, vagy csak hasadt körműek, tartsátok tisztátalannak. Ilyenek például a teve, a nyúl vagy a szirti borz, mert kérődzők ugyan, de nem hasadt körműek. 8 Tisztátalan a disznó is, mert bár a körme hasadt, de nem kérődző. A tisztátalan állatok húsából ne egyetek, sőt még a tetemüket se érintsétek!
9 A vízben élő állatok közül azokat ehetitek, amelyeknek uszonya is, meg pikkelye is van. 10 Azok a víziállatok, amelyeknek nincs uszonya is, meg pikkelye is, tisztátalanok — azokat ne egyétek!
11 A madarak közül a tisztákat megehetitek. 12-18 De a következő madarak tisztátalanok, ezeket ne egyétek: minden ragadozó madár: sas, sólyom, kánya, héja, ölyv és ezek rokonai, minden dögevő madár: keselyűfélék, holló, minden bagolyféle, a halevő vízimadarak: gém, gólya, pelikán, sirály, kormorán, íbisz és ezek rokonai, ezeken kívül a strucc, szarka, búbos banka, és a denevérfélék.
19 A szárnyas rovarokat is tartsátok tisztátalannak! Tehát ezeket a felsorolt tisztátalan állatokat ne fogyasszátok! 20 A tiszta szárnyas állatokat azonban megehetitek.
21 Soha ne egyetek olyan állat húsából, amelyet nem ti vágtatok le, hanem magától pusztult el. Az ilyen húst azonban odaadhatod a tartósan közöttetek lakó idegeneknek: ők megehetik. Az átutazó idegeneknek el is adhatod az ilyen húst. De ti semmiképpen nem ehettek belőle, mert az Örökkévalónak, Istenünknek szent népe vagytok!
Amikor kecskegidából készítitek az ételt, annak húsát ne a saját anyja tejében főzzétek meg!
Az évenkénti tized
22 Minden egyes évben tedd félre a betakarított termés tizedrészét mindenből, ami csak a földeden terem! 23 Tehát tedd félre gabonádból, borodból, olívaolajadból és egyéb terményeidből a tizedrészt! Teheneid, juhaid és kecskéid elsőszülött kicsinyeit különítsd el! Ezeket vidd fel arra a helyre, amelyet az Örökkévaló majd erre a célra kiválaszt városaid közül, hogy ott imádjátok őt. Ott rendezz ezekből ünnepi lakomát egész családoddal együtt, és örvendezzetek az Örökkévaló jelenlétében. Így mindig emlékezni fogtok arra, hogy Istenünket, az Örökkévalót tiszteljétek.
24-25 Azonban, ha az a hely, amelyet az Örökkévaló kiválaszt, hogy oda helyezze nevét, túl messze van ahhoz hogy terményeid tizedrészét, amivel Istenünk, az Örökkévaló megáldott téged, oda vidd, akkor másképpen járj el. Add el a tizedrészt, s a pénzt vidd fel arra a helyre. 26 Ott vásárolj érte, amit csak kíván a lelked: marhát, juhot, új bort, erősebb italokat vagy bármi mást. Így rendezz ott lakomát belőle egész családodnak, és örvendezzetek az Örökkévaló jelenlétében.
27 Ne feledkezz meg a városodban, vagy községedben lakó lévitákról! Hívd meg őket is erre a lakomára, mert ők nem kapnak örökségül földbirtokot, mint ti.
A harmadévi tized
28 Minden harmadik év végén vidd el terményeid tizedrészét a város kapujánál lévő raktárba! 29 Akkor eljönnek érte a lakóhelyeteken élő léviták és idegenek, az árvák és az özvegyek. Ebben az évben az ő számukra gyűjtsd össze, és nekik add oda, hogy ne szűkölködjenek ők se. Akkor megáld titeket Istenünk, az Örökkévaló, megáldja kezed minden munkáját!

14 Vous êtes les enfants de l’Eternel votre Dieu : vous ne vous ferez donc pas d’incision sur le corps ni de tonsure sur le front de votre tête[a]. 2 Vous êtes, en effet, un peuple saint pour l’Eternel votre Dieu, et l’Eternel vous a choisis parmi tous les peuples répandus sur la surface de la terre pour que vous lui apparteniez comme un peuple précieux[b].
3 Vous ne mangerez rien d’abominable[c]. 4 Voici les animaux que vous pourrez manger : le bœuf, le mouton et la chèvre, 5 le cerf, la gazelle et le daim, le bouquetin, le chevreuil, le mouflon, la chèvre sauvage 6 et toute bête qui a les sabots fendus en deux et qui remue constamment les mâchoires[d]. 7 Mais vous ne mangerez pas celles qui remuent constamment les mâchoires seulement ou qui ont seulement les sabots fendus, comme le chameau, le lièvre et le daman, car bien qu’ils remuent constamment les mâchoires, ils n’ont pas le sabot fendu. Vous les tiendrez donc pour impurs. 8 Le porc, lui, a le sabot fendu mais ne remue pas constamment les mâchoires ; vous le considérerez comme impur. Vous ne mangerez pas de sa viande et vous ne toucherez pas à son cadavre.
9 Parmi les animaux aquatiques, vous pourrez manger tous ceux qui ont des nageoires et des écailles. 10 Mais vous ne mangerez pas ceux qui n’ont pas de nageoires et d’écailles, vous les considérerez comme impurs.
11 Vous pourrez manger tout oiseau pur. 12 Mais voici une liste d’oiseaux que vous ne devez pas manger[e] : l’aigle, le gypaète, le vautour, 13 la buse, le faucon, toutes les diverses espèces de milans, 14 toutes les variétés de corbeaux, 15 l’autruche, la chouette, la mouette et toutes les espèces d’éperviers, 16 le hibou, le chat-huant et l’effraie, 17 le pélican, l’orfraie et le cormoran, 18 la cigogne et les diverses variétés de hérons, la huppe et la chauve-souris.
19 Vous considérerez comme impur tout insecte ailé, et vous n’en mangerez pas. 20 Vous pourrez cependant manger ce qui vole et qui est pur[f].
21 Vous ne mangerez pas une bête morte. Vous pourrez la donner à l’immigré pour qu’il la mange[g], ou la vendre à un étranger. Vous, en effet, vous êtes un peuple saint pour l’Eternel votre Dieu. Vous ne ferez pas cuire[h] un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
Les lois sociales
La dîme
22 Chaque année, vous prélèverez la dîme de tous les produits de vos champs. 23 Vous mangerez, devant l’Eternel votre Dieu au lieu qu’il aura choisi pour y établir sa présence, la dîme de votre blé, du vin nouveau et de l’huile, ainsi que les premiers-nés de vos troupeaux de gros et de petit bétail. Ainsi vous apprendrez à craindre l’Eternel votre Dieu tous les jours de votre vie[i]. 24 Lorsque l’Eternel t’aura comblé de bénédictions, si tu ne peux pas transporter ta dîme jusqu’à l’endroit que l’Eternel ton Dieu aura choisi pour y établir sa présence parce qu’il sera trop loin de chez toi, 25 tu vendras la dîme, tu prendras l’argent et tu te rendras au lieu que l’Eternel ton Dieu aura choisi. 26 Là, tu achèteras avec l’argent tout ce qui te plaira : bœufs, moutons ou chevreaux, vin ou autres boissons alcoolisées, bref, tout ce dont tu auras envie, et tu le consommeras là devant l’Eternel ton Dieu, en te réjouissant avec ta famille. 27 Vous n’oublierez pas de partager avec les lévites qui habiteront dans vos villes, car ils n’ont pas reçu de part de patrimoine foncier comme vous.
28 Tous les trois ans, vous prélèverez toute la dîme des récoltes de cette année-là, et vous la déposerez à l’intérieur de votre ville. 29 Alors les lévites, qui n’ont pas de part de patrimoine foncier comme vous, viendront, ainsi que les immigrés, les orphelins et les veuves qui habitent dans votre ville, et ils mangeront à satiété. Alors l’Eternel votre Dieu vous bénira dans tous les travaux que vous entreprendrez.
