⁴ It is the Lord your God you must follow,^(A) and him you must revere.^(B) Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast^(C) to him.

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan!^(A) For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’^[a]”^(B)

²⁵ Worship the Lord your God,^(A) and his blessing^(B) will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness^(C) from among you, ²⁶ and none will miscarry or be barren^(D) in your land. I will give you a full life span.^(E)

Fear the Lord

¹² And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you^(A) but to fear^(B) the Lord your God, to walk^(C) in obedience to him, to love him,^(D) to serve the Lord^(E) your God with all your heart^(F) and with all your soul,^(G)

²⁰ “Do not be afraid,” Samuel replied. “You have done all this evil;^(A) yet do not turn away from the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. ²¹ Do not turn away after useless^(B) idols.^(C) They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless. ²² For the sake^(D) of his great name^(E) the Lord will not reject^(F) his people, because the Lord was pleased to make^(G) you his own.
