3 (2) and the sign or wonder comes about as he predicted when he said, ‘Let’s follow other gods, which you have not known; and let us serve them,’ 4 (3) you are not to listen to what that prophet or dreamer says. For Adonai your God is testing you, in order to find out whether you really do love Adonai your God with all your heart and being. 5 (4) You are to follow Adonai your God, fear him, obey his mitzvot, listen to what he says, serve him and cling to him;

3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet(A) or dreamer.(B) The Lord your God is testing(C) you to find out whether you love(D) him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 It is the Lord your God you must follow,(E) and him you must revere.(F) Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast(G) to him. 5 That prophet or dreamer must be put to death(H) for inciting rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery. That prophet or dreamer tried to turn(I) you from the way the Lord your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil(J) from among you.
