^16 (A)Then you shall gather all its spoil into the middle of its open square and burn the city and all its spoil with fire as a whole burnt offering to Yahweh your God; and it shall be a ^[a](B)ruin forever. It shall never be rebuilt.

⁴ Though Edom says, “We have been ^(A)demolished, but we will ^[a](B)return and build up the waste places”; thus says Yahweh of hosts, “They may ^(C)build, but I will pull down; and men will call them a ^[b]territory of wickedness, and the people ^[c]toward whom Yahweh is indignant ^(D)forever.”
