Reject Idolatry

13 “^[a](A)If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, ² and the sign or the wonder comes true, of which he spoke to you, saying, ‘^(B)Let’s follow other gods (whom you have not known) and let’s serve them,’ ³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer of dreams; for the Lord your God is ^(C)testing you to find out whether ^(D)you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. ^4 (E)You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and ^(F)cling to Him. ⁵ But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be ^(G)put to death, because he has spoken falsely against the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of ^[b]slavery, ^(H)to drive you from the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. ^(I)So you shall eliminate the evil from among you.

False Prophets Ashamed

13 “On that day a ^(A)fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for ^(B)sin and for ^(C)defilement.

² “And it will come about on that day,” declares the Lord of armies, “that I will ^(D)eliminate the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and I will also remove the ^(E)prophets and the ^(F)unclean spirit from the land. ³ And if anyone still ^(G)prophesies, then his father and mother who gave birth to him will say to him, ‘You shall ^(H)not live, because you have spoken ^(I)falsely in the name of the Lord’; and his ^(J)father and mother who gave birth to him shall pierce him through when he prophesies. ⁴ Also it will come about on that day that the prophets will each be ^(K)ashamed of his vision when he prophesies, and they will not put on a ^(L)hairy robe in order to deceive; ⁵ but he will say, ‘I am ^(M)not a prophet; I am a cultivator of the ground, because a man ^[a]sold me as a slave in my youth.’
