28 Be careful to obey[a] all these things that I am commanding you, so that it will go well[b] for you and for your children after you forever,[c] because then you will be doing what is[d] good and right[e] in the eyes of Yahweh your God.

29 “When Yahweh your God has cut off the nations whom you are about to go to,[f] to dispossess them before you,[g] and you have dispossessed them, and you live in their land, 30 take care[h] so that you are not ensnared into imitating them[i] after their being destroyed from before you,[j] and so that you not enquire concerning their gods, saying,[k] ‘How did these nations serve their gods, and thus I myself[l] want to do also.’

28 Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well(A) with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God.

29 The Lord your God will cut off(B) before you the nations you are about to invade and dispossess. But when you have driven them out and settled in their land,(C) 30 and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared(D) by inquiring about their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.”(E)
