⁸ See, I have given you this land^(A).^(B) Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore^(C) he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.”

¹⁸ Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight,^(A) so that it may go well^(B) with you and you may go in and take over the good land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors,

¹¹ “Go,” the Lord said to me, “and lead the people on their way, so that they may enter and possess the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.”

²¹ so that your days and the days of your children may be many^(A) in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.^(B)

²⁰ and that you may love^(A) the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life,^(B) and he will give^(C) you many years in the land^(D) he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

⁷ Then Moses summoned Joshua and said^(A) to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them,^(B) and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.

²⁰ When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors,^(A) and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods^(B) and worship them,^(C) rejecting me and breaking my covenant.^(D)

⁴² Then you will know that I am the Lord,^(A) when I bring you into the land of Israel,^(B) the land I had sworn with uplifted hand to give to your ancestors.^(C)
