⁴⁴ The Amorites who lived in those hills came out against you; they chased you like a swarm of bees^(A) and beat you down from Seir^(B) all the way to Hormah.^(C)

⁷ The Lord will grant that the enemies^(A) who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.^(B)

¹⁷ I will set my face^(A) against you so that you will be defeated^(B) by your enemies;^(C) those who hate you will rule over you,^(D) and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you.^(E)

³⁷ They will stumble over one another^(A) as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to stand before your enemies.^(B)
