¹⁶ “Then I charged your judges at that time, saying, ‘Hear the cases between your ^[a]fellow countrymen, and ^(A)judge righteously between a man and his ^[b]fellow countryman, or the alien who is with him. ^17 (B)You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall ^(C)not fear ^[c]man, for the judgment is God’s. ^(D)The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.’

⁵ But if our unrighteousness ^[a](A)demonstrates the righteousness of God, ^(B)what shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? (^(C)I am speaking in human terms.) ^6 (D)May it never be! For otherwise, how will ^(E)God judge the world?
