Promesa de restauración

30 Y sucederá que cuando todas estas cosas hayan venido sobre ti, la bendición y la maldición que he puesto delante de ti(A), y tú las recuerdes[a] en todas las naciones adonde el Señor tu Dios te haya desterrado(B), 2 y vuelvas al Señor tu Dios, tú y tus hijos, y le obedezcas[b](C) con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma(D) conforme a todo lo que yo te ordeno hoy, 3 entonces el Señor tu Dios te hará volver de tu cautividad[c](E), y tendrá compasión de ti y te recogerá de nuevo de entre todos los pueblos adonde el Señor tu Dios te haya dispersado(F). 4 Si tus desterrados están en los confines de la tierra[d], de allí el Señor tu Dios te recogerá y de allí te hará volver[e](G). 5 Y el Señor tu Dios te llevará a la tierra que tus padres poseyeron, y tú la poseerás(H); y Él te prosperará y te multiplicará más que a tus padres(I). 6 Además, el Señor tu Dios circuncidará tu corazón y el corazón de tus descendientes[f], para que ames al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma(J), a fin de que vivas. 7 El Señor tu Dios pondrá todas estas maldiciones sobre los enemigos y sobre los aborrecedores(K) que te persiguieron. 8 Y tú volverás a escuchar la voz del Señor, y guardarás todos sus mandamientos que yo te ordeno hoy. 9 Entonces el Señor tu Dios te hará prosperar abundantemente[g] en toda la obra de tu mano, en el fruto de tu vientre, en el fruto de tu ganado y en el producto[h] de tu tierra(L), pues el Señor de nuevo se deleitará en ti para bien, tal como se deleitó en tus padres(M), 10 si obedeces a[i] la voz del Señor tu Dios, guardando sus mandamientos y sus estatutos que están escritos en este libro de la ley(N), y si te vuelves al[j] Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma(O).

11 Este mandamiento que yo te ordeno hoy no es muy difícil para ti, ni está fuera de tu alcance[k]. 12 No está en el cielo, para que digas[l]: «¿Quién subirá por nosotros al cielo para traérnoslo y hacérnoslo oír a fin de que lo guardemos(P)?». 13 Ni está más allá del mar, para que digas[m]: «¿Quién cruzará el mar por nosotros para traérnoslo y para hacérnoslo oír, a fin de que lo guardemos?». 14 Pues la palabra está muy cerca de ti, en tu boca y en tu corazón, para que la guardes.

15 Mira, yo he puesto hoy delante de ti la vida y el bien[n], la muerte y el mal[o](Q); 16 pues te ordeno hoy amar al Señor tu Dios(R), andar en sus caminos y guardar sus mandamientos, sus estatutos y sus decretos, para que vivas y te multipliques, a fin de que el Señor tu Dios te bendiga en la tierra que vas a entrar para poseerla(S). 17 Pero si tu corazón se desvía y no escuchas, sino que te dejas arrastrar y te postras ante otros dioses y los sirves, 18 yo os declaro hoy que ciertamente pereceréis(T). No prolongaréis vuestros días en la tierra adonde tú vas, cruzando el Jordán para entrar en ella y[p] poseerla. 19 Al cielo y a la tierra pongo hoy como testigos contra vosotros(U) de que he puesto ante ti la vida y la muerte, la bendición y la maldición(V). Escoge, pues, la vida para que vivas, tú y tu descendencia[q], 20 amando al Señor tu Dios(W), escuchando su voz y allegándote a Él(X); porque eso[r] es tu vida y la largura de tus días, para que habites(Y) en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob(Z).

Condiciones para la restauración y la bendición

30 Sucederá que cuando hubieren venido sobre ti todas estas cosas, la bendición y la maldición que he puesto delante de ti, y te arrepintieres en medio de todas las naciones adonde te hubiere arrojado Jehová tu Dios, 2 y te convirtieres a Jehová tu Dios, y obedecieres a su voz conforme a todo lo que yo te mando hoy, tú y tus hijos, con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, 3 entonces Jehová hará volver a tus cautivos, y tendrá misericordia de ti, y volverá a recogerte de entre todos los pueblos adonde te hubiere esparcido Jehová tu Dios. 4 Aun cuando tus desterrados estuvieren en las partes más lejanas que hay debajo del cielo, de allí te recogerá Jehová tu Dios, y de allá te tomará; 5 y te hará volver Jehová tu Dios a la tierra que heredaron tus padres, y será tuya; y te hará bien, y te multiplicará más que a tus padres. 6 Y circuncidará Jehová tu Dios tu corazón, y el corazón de tu descendencia, para que ames a Jehová tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, a fin de que vivas. 7 Y pondrá Jehová tu Dios todas estas maldiciones sobre tus enemigos, y sobre tus aborrecedores que te persiguieron. 8 Y tú volverás, y oirás la voz de Jehová, y pondrás por obra todos sus mandamientos que yo te ordeno hoy. 9 Y te hará Jehová tu Dios abundar en toda obra de tus manos, en el fruto de tu vientre, en el fruto de tu bestia, y en el fruto de tu tierra, para bien; porque Jehová volverá a gozarse sobre ti para bien, de la manera que se gozó sobre tus padres, 10 cuando obedecieres a la voz de Jehová tu Dios, para guardar sus mandamientos y sus estatutos escritos en este libro de la ley; cuando te convirtieres a Jehová tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.

11 Porque este mandamiento que yo te ordeno hoy no es demasiado difícil para ti, ni está lejos. 12 No está en el cielo, para que digas: ¿Quién subirá por nosotros al cielo, y nos lo traerá y nos lo hará oír para que lo cumplamos? 13 Ni está al otro lado del mar, para que digas: ¿Quién pasará por nosotros el mar, para que nos lo traiga y nos lo haga oír, a fin de que lo cumplamos? 14 Porque muy cerca de ti está la palabra, en tu boca y en tu corazón, para que la cumplas.(A)

15 Mira, yo he puesto delante de ti hoy la vida y el bien, la muerte y el mal; 16 porque yo te mando hoy que ames a Jehová tu Dios, que andes en sus caminos, y guardes sus mandamientos, sus estatutos y sus decretos, para que vivas y seas multiplicado, y Jehová tu Dios te bendiga en la tierra a la cual entras para tomar posesión de ella. 17 Mas si tu corazón se apartare y no oyeres, y te dejares extraviar, y te inclinares a dioses ajenos y les sirvieres, 18 yo os protesto hoy que de cierto pereceréis; no prolongaréis vuestros días sobre la tierra adonde vais, pasando el Jordán, para entrar en posesión de ella. 19 A los cielos y a la tierra llamo por testigos hoy contra vosotros, que os he puesto delante la vida y la muerte, la bendición y la maldición; escoge, pues, la vida, para que vivas tú y tu descendencia; 20 amando a Jehová tu Dios, atendiendo a su voz, y siguiéndole a él; porque él es vida para ti, y prolongación de tus días; a fin de que habites sobre la tierra que juró Jehová a tus padres, Abraham,(B) Isaac(C) y Jacob,(D) que les había de dar.

30 (RY: ii, LY: iv) “When the time arrives that all these things have come upon you, both the blessing and the curse which I have presented to you; and you are there among the nations to which Adonai your God has driven you; then, at last, you will start thinking about what has happened to you; 2 and you will return to Adonai your God and pay attention to what he has said, which will be exactly what I am ordering you to do today — you and your children, with all your heart and all your being. 3 At that point, Adonai your God will reverse your exile and show you mercy; he will return and gather you from all the peoples to which Adonai your God scattered you. 4 If one of yours was scattered to the far end of the sky, Adonai your God will gather you even from there; he will go there and get you. 5 Adonai your God will bring you back into the land your ancestors possessed, and you will possess it; he will make you prosper there, and you will become even more numerous than your ancestors. 6 Then Adonai your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your children, so that you will love Adonai your God with all your heart and all your being, and thus you will live. (RY: iii, LY: v) 7 Adonai your God will put all these curses on your enemies, on those who hated and persecuted you; 8 but you will return and pay attention to what Adonai says and obey all his mitzvot which I am giving you today. 9 Then Adonai your God will give you more than enough in everything you set out to do — the fruit of your body, the fruit of your livestock, and the fruit of your land will all do well; for Adonai will once again rejoice to see you do well, just as he rejoiced in your ancestors.

10 “However, all this will happen only if you pay attention to what Adonai your God says, so that you obey his mitzvot and regulations which are written in this book of the Torah, if you turn to Adonai your God with all your heart and all your being. (LY: vi) 11 For this mitzvah which I am giving you today is not too hard for you, it is not beyond your reach. 12 It isn’t in the sky, so that you need to ask, ‘Who will go up into the sky for us, bring it to us and make us hear it, so that we can obey it?’ 13 Likewise, it isn’t beyond the sea, so that you need to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea for us, bring it to us and make us hear it, so that we can obey it?’ 14 On the contrary, the word is very close to you — in your mouth, even in your heart; therefore, you can do it!

(RY: iv, LY: vii) 15 “Look! I am presenting you today with, on the one hand, life and good; and on the other, death and evil — 16 in that I am ordering you today to love Adonai your God, to follow his ways, and to obey his mitzvot, regulations and rulings ; for if you do, you will live and increase your numbers; and Adonai your God will bless you in the land you are entering in order to take possession of it. 17 But if your heart turns away, if you refuse to listen, if you are drawn away to prostrate yourselves before other gods and serve them; (LY: Maftir) 18 I am announcing to you today that you will certainly perish; you will not live long in the land you are crossing the Yarden to enter and possess.

19 “I call on heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have presented you with life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you will live, you and your descendants, 20 loving Adonai your God, paying attention to what he says and clinging to him — for that is the purpose of your life! On this depends the length of time you will live in the land Adonai swore he would give to your ancestors Avraham, Yitz’chak and Ya‘akov.”

Prosperity After Turning to the Lord

30 When all these blessings and curses(A) I have set before you come on you and you take them to heart wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations,(B) 2 and when you and your children return(C) to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart(D) and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, 3 then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes[a](E) and have compassion(F) on you and gather(G) you again from all the nations where he scattered(H) you.(I) 4 Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens,(J) from there the Lord your God will gather(K) you and bring you back.(L) 5 He will bring(M) you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous(N) than your ancestors. 6 The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants,(O) so that you may love(P) him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live. 7 The Lord your God will put all these curses(Q) on your enemies who hate and persecute you.(R) 8 You will again obey the Lord and follow all his commands I am giving you today. 9 Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land.(S) The Lord will again delight(T) in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors, 10 if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law(U) and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.(V)

The Offer of Life or Death

11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.(W) 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven(X) to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?”(Y) 13 Nor is it beyond the sea,(Z) so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?”(AA) 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.(AB)

15 See, I set before you today life(AC) and prosperity,(AD) death(AE) and destruction.(AF) 16 For I command you today to love(AG) the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live(AH) and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed.(AI) You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you(AJ) that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.(AK) Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love(AL) the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life,(AM) and he will give(AN) you many years in the land(AO) he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
