El altar sobre el monte Ebal
27 Moisés y los jefes ancianos de Israel dieron al pueblo esta orden: «Cumple todos estos mandamientos que hoy te entrego. 2 Después de cruzar el Jordán y de entrar en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da, levantarás unas piedras grandes, las revocarás con cal 3 y escribirás sobre ellas todas las palabras de esta ley. Esto lo harás después de cruzar el Jordán y de entrar en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da, tierra donde abundan la leche y la miel, tal como el Señor tu Dios se lo prometió a tus antepasados. 4 Cuando hayas cruzado el Jordán, colocarás esas piedras sobre el monte Ebal y las cubrirás con cal, tal como te lo ordeno hoy. 5 Edificarás allí un altar de piedra en honor al Señor tu Dios, pero no con piedras labradas con instrumentos de hierro, sino con piedras enteras, 6 porque el altar del Señor deberá construirse con piedras del campo. Quemarás sobre él holocaustos al Señor tu Dios; 7 ofrecerás allí sacrificios de comunión, los comerás y te regocijarás en la presencia del Señor tu Dios. 8 Sobre las piedras de ese altar escribirás claramente todas las palabras de esta ley».
Maldiciones desde el monte Ebal
9 Entonces Moisés y los sacerdotes levitas dijeron a todo Israel: «¡Guarda silencio, Israel, y escucha! Hoy te has convertido en el pueblo del Señor tu Dios. 10 Obedece al Señor tu Dios y cumple los mandamientos y estatutos que hoy te mando».
11 Ese mismo día Moisés ordenó al pueblo:
12 Cuando hayan cruzado el Jordán, las siguientes tribus estarán sobre el monte Guerizín para bendecir al pueblo: Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar, José y Benjamín. 13 Sobre el monte Ebal estarán estas otras, para pronunciar las maldiciones: Rubén, Gad, Aser, Zabulón, Dan y Neftalí.
14 Los levitas tomarán la palabra y en voz alta dirán a todo el pueblo de Israel:
15 «Maldito sea quien haga una imagen, ya sea tallada en madera o fundida en metal, y la ponga en un lugar secreto. Es creación de las manos de un artífice y por lo tanto es detestable al Señor».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
16 «Maldito sea quien deshonre a su padre o a su madre».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
17 «Maldito sea quien altere los límites de la propiedad de su prójimo».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
18 «Maldito sea quien desvíe de su camino a un ciego».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
19 «Maldito sea quien viole los derechos del extranjero, del huérfano o de la viuda».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
20 «Maldito sea quien se acueste con la mujer de su padre, pues con tal acción deshonra el lecho de su padre».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
21 «Maldito sea quien tenga relaciones sexuales con un animal».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
22 «Maldito sea quien se acueste con su hermana, hija de su padre o de su madre».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
23 «Maldito sea quien se acueste con su suegra».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
24 «Maldito sea quien mate a traición a su prójimo».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
25 «Maldito sea quien acepte soborno para matar al inocente».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».
26 «Maldito sea quien no practique fielmente las palabras de esta ley».
Y todo el pueblo dirá: «¡Amén!».

Las piedras memoriales en el monte Ebal
27 Moisés y los ancianos de Israel dieron al pueblo las siguientes órdenes:
«Cumplan todo lo que hoy les he ordenado. 2 Cuando crucen el río Jordán y entren en la tierra que el Señor su Dios les va a dar, levantarán unas piedras grandes y las blanquearán con cal, 3 para escribir en ellas todas estas instrucciones que les he dado. Háganlo en cuanto entren en esa tierra donde la leche y la miel corren como el agua, y que el Señor su Dios les va a dar, tal como lo prometió a los antepasados de ustedes. 4 Así que, cuando hayan cruzado el río Jordán, deberán levantar sobre el monte Ebal las piedras que les he dicho, y blanquearlas con cal. 5-6 También deberán construir allí un altar de piedra para el Señor su Dios. Las piedras deberán ser enteras y sin labrar. Allí, en ese altar, ofrecerán al Señor su Dios holocaustos 7 y sacrificios de reconciliación; y allí, ante el Señor su Dios, comerán y harán fiesta. 8 En las piedras deberán escribir con toda claridad estas instrucciones que les he dado.»
9 Después Moisés, acompañado de los sacerdotes levitas, dijo a los israelitas:
«Guarden silencio, israelitas, y escuchen. Hoy se han convertido ustedes en el pueblo del Señor su Dios. 10 Por lo tanto, deben obedecerle y poner en práctica sus mandamientos y sus leyes que yo les ordeno hoy.»
Enumeración de las maldiciones
11 Ese mismo día Moisés dio al pueblo esta orden:
12 «Cuando ustedes hayan cruzado el río Jordán, las tribus de Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar, José y Benjamín se colocarán en el monte Guerizim para la bendición del pueblo, 13 y las tribus de Rubén, Gad, Aser, Zabulón, Dan y Neftalí se colocarán en el monte Ebal para la maldición. 14 Los levitas se dirigirán a todos los israelitas, y en voz alta pronunciarán la siguiente declaración:
15 »“Maldito sea el que haga un ídolo o una figura de metal fundido, hecha por un artesano, y la ponga en un lugar oculto, pues eso le repugna al Señor.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
16 »“Maldito sea el que trate con desprecio a su padre o a su madre.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
17 »“Maldito sea el que cambie los límites de la propiedad de su vecino para robarle terreno.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
18 »“Maldito sea el que desvíe de su camino a un ciego.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
19 »“Maldito sea el que cometa una injusticia con un extranjero, una viuda o un huérfano.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
20 »“Maldito sea el que se acueste con la mujer de su padre, pues con ello lo deshonra.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
21 »“Maldito sea el que tenga relaciones sexuales con un animal.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
22 »“Maldito sea el que se acueste con su hermana, ya sea por parte de padre o por parte de madre.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
23 »“Maldito sea el que se acueste con su suegra.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
24 »“Maldito sea el que mate a traición a su prójimo.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
25 »“Maldito sea el que reciba dinero por matar a una persona inocente.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”
26 »“Maldito sea el que no respete estas instrucciones, ni las ponga en práctica.” Y todo el pueblo dirá: “Amén.”

27 Moses stod sammen med Israels ledere og sagde til folket:
„Husk at adlyde alle de befalinger, jeg pålægger jer i dag. 2-4 Når I går over Jordanfloden og kommer ind i det land, Herren, jeres Gud, har lovet jer, et land, der ‚flyder med mælk og honning’, skal I tage nogle store sten fra floden og senere stille dem op på Ebals bjerg. Stenene skal I stryge over med kalk, og I skal skrive Herrens love i kalken. 5-7 Samtidig skal I bygge et alter af utilhugne kampesten og ofre brændofre og takofre til Herren, og I skal feste og glæde jer for hans ansigt. 8 Glem ikke at skrive de her love på de kalkede sten med tydelig skrift.”
9 Derefter sagde Moses på præsternes vegne til hele folket: „Hør efter, Israels folk! I dag er pagten mellem jer og Herren, jeres Gud, blevet bekræftet. 10 Adlyd nu alle hans befalinger, som jeg har givet jer.”

11 Samme dag sagde Moses til folket: 12 „Når I er kommet over på den anden side af Jordanfloden, skal Simeons, Levis, Judas, Issakars, Josefs og Benjamins stammer stille sig op på Garizims bjergside som tegn på, at Herren vil velsigne dem, der holder sig pagten for øje, 13 mens Rubens, Gads, Ashers, Zebulons, Dans og Naftalis stammer skal stille sig op på Ebals bjergside som tegn på, at Herren vil dømme dem, der vender ryggen til pagten.[a] 14 Levitterne[b] skal så med høj røst erklære over for hele Israels folk:
15 ‚Herren afskyr afgudsdyrkelse, og han vil dømme enhver, der laver støbte eller udskårne afgudsbilleder og i al hemmelighed stiller dette menneskeværk op!’ Og folket skal svare: ‚Ja, bestemt!’
16 ‚Guds dom over enhver, der ringeagter sin far eller mor!’ Og folket skal svare: ‚Ja, bestemt!’
17 ‚Guds dom over enhver, der flytter markskellet mellem sin og sin nabos jord!’ Og folket skal svare: ‚Ja, bestemt!’

27 Then Moses and the elders of Israel charged the people, saying,[a] “Keep all of the commandment that I am commanding you today.[b] 2 And then on the day that you cross the Jordan to the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you, then you shall set up for yourselves[c] large stones, and you shall paint[d] them with lime, 3 and you shall write on them all the words of this law at your crossing, so that you may come into the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Yahweh, the God of your ancestors,[e] promised[f] to you. 4 And when you cross the Jordan,[g] you shall set up these stones that I am commanding you about today[h] on Mount Ebal, and you shall paint[i] them with lime. 5 And you shall build an altar there for Yahweh your God, an altar of stone, but[j] you shall not use an iron tool to shape the stones.[k] 6 You must build the altar of your God with unhewn stones, and you shall sacrifice on it burnt offerings to Yahweh your God. 7 And you shall sacrifice fellowship offerings, and you shall eat them there, and you shall rejoice before[l] Yahweh your God. 8 You shall write on the stone all of the words of this law very clearly.”
9 Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying,[m] “Be silent and hear, Israel, for this day you have become a people[n] for Yahweh your God. 10 And listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and observe his commandments and his rules that I am commanding you today.”[o]
Blessings and Curses
11 And Moses charged the people on that day, saying,[p] 12 “These tribes shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people when you cross[q] the Jordan: Simeon and Levi and Judah and Issachar and Joseph and Benjamin. 13 And these shall stand on Mount Ebal for delivering the curse: Reuben, Gad and Asher and Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali. 14 And the Levites shall declare,[r] and they shall say to each man of Israel with a loud voice, 15 ‘Cursed be the man that makes a divine image or a cast image, which is a detestable thing for Yahweh, the work of the hand of a skilled craftsman, and then sets it in a hiding place.’[s] And all the people shall respond,[t] ‘Amen.’
16 ‘Cursed be the one who dishonors his father or his mother.’ And all of the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
17 ‘Cursed be the one who moves the boundary marker of his neighbor.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
18 ‘Cursed be the one who misleads a blind person on the road.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
19 ‘Cursed be the one who deprives the alien, the orphan, and the widow of justice.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
20 ‘Cursed be the one who lies with the wife of his father, because he has dishonored his father’s bed.’[u] And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
21 ‘Cursed be the one who lies with any kind of animal.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
22 ‘Cursed be the one who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
23 ‘Cursed be the one who lies with his mother-in-law.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
24 ‘Cursed be the one who strikes down his neighbor in secret.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
25 ‘Cursed be the one who takes a bribe to murder an innocent person.’[v] And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
26 ‘Cursed be the one who does not keep[w] the words of this law, to observe them.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’”
