22 »Si alguno de ustedes ve perdido el buey o la oveja de su compatriota, no debe desentenderse de ello, sino llevárselo a su compatriota. 2 Pero si el dueño no es vecino ni conocido suyo, entonces llevará el animal a su casa y lo tendrá allí hasta que su compatriota lo reclame; entonces deberá devolvérselo. 3 Lo mismo deberán hacer con el asno, el manto o cualquier otra cosa que alguien pierda y que alguno de ustedes encuentre. No se desentiendan del asunto.
4 »Si alguno de ustedes ve caído en el camino el asno o el buey de su compatriota, no debe desentenderse de ello, sino ayudarle a levantarlo.
5 »La mujer no debe usar ropa de hombre, ni el hombre debe usar ropa de mujer, porque al Señor le repugna todo aquel que hace estas cosas.
6 »Si alguien encuentra en su camino algún nido de pájaros en un árbol o en el suelo, con polluelos o huevos, y la madre echada sobre ellos, no debe quedarse con la madre y los polluelos; 7 debe quedarse sólo con los polluelos y dejar que la madre se vaya. Así será dichoso y tendrá una larga vida.
8 »Cuando alguno de ustedes construya una casa nueva, deberá poner un muro de protección alrededor de la azotea; así evitará que su familia sea culpable de una muerte en caso de que alguien se caiga de la casa.
9 »No siembren en su viñedo más de una clase de semilla, para que no se les impida usar tanto lo que sembraron como toda la cosecha del viñedo.
10 »No aren su campo con una yunta formada por un buey y un asno.
11 »No se pongan ropa tejida con una mezcla de lana y lino.
12 »Pongan borlas con flecos en las cuatro puntas del manto con que se cubren.
Leyes sobre la castidad
13 »Si un hombre toma a una mujer por esposa, y después de unirse a ella le pierde cariño 14 y, alegando que ella le ha faltado, le crea mala fama diciendo: “Yo me casé con esta mujer, pero en nuestras relaciones me encontré con que ya no era virgen”, 15 entonces los padres de la joven tomarán la prueba de su virginidad y la presentarán al tribunal de los ancianos de la ciudad, 16 y el padre de la joven dirá a los ancianos: “Yo di mi hija por esposa a este hombre, pero ahora él ha dejado de quererla 17 y la acusa de haberle faltado, alegando que mi hija ya no era virgen. Sin embargo, aquí está la prueba de que sí lo era.” Y diciendo esto, extenderá la sábana delante de los ancianos. 18 Entonces ellos apresarán al hombre y lo castigarán, 19 condenándolo a pagar una multa de cien monedas de plata, que deberá entregar al padre de la joven por crearle mala fama a una muchacha virgen de Israel. Además, ella seguirá siendo su mujer y no podrá divorciarse de ella en toda su vida.
20 »Pero si resulta cierto que la joven ya no era virgen, 21 la sacarán a las puertas de la casa de su padre y los hombres de la ciudad la matarán a pedradas, por cometer una maldad tan grande en Israel y deshonrar la casa misma de su padre. Así acabarán con el mal que haya en medio de ustedes.
22 »Si un hombre es sorprendido acostado con una mujer casada, los dos serán condenados a muerte. Así acabarán ustedes con el mal que haya en Israel.
23 »Si una muchacha virgen es prometida de un hombre, y otro hombre la encuentra en la ciudad y se acuesta con ella, 24 serán llevados los dos ante el tribunal de la ciudad, donde serán condenados a morir apedreados: la joven por no pedir socorro estando en plena ciudad, y el hombre por deshonrar a la mujer de su prójimo. Así acabarán con el mal que haya en medio de ustedes.
25 »Pero si un hombre encuentra en el campo a la prometida de otro hombre y la obliga a acostarse con él, entonces sólo se dará muerte al hombre que se acostó con ella. 26 A la joven no se le hará nada, porque no ha cometido ningún delito que merezca la muerte; se trata de un caso semejante del hombre que ataca a otro hombre y lo mata; 27 porque él encontró a la joven sola en el campo y, aunque ella hubiera gritado, nadie habría podido socorrerla.
28 »Si un hombre encuentra a una muchacha virgen y sin compromiso de matrimonio, y la obliga a acostarse con él, y son descubiertos, 29 entonces el hombre tendrá que entregar al padre de la joven cincuenta monedas de plata; y, como la ha deshonrado, tendrá que tomarla por mujer y no podrá divorciarse de ella en toda su vida.
30 (23.1) »Nadie debe tener relaciones sexuales con la mujer de su padre, pues con ello lo deshonra.

22 “You (A)shall not see your brother's ox or his sheep going astray and ignore them. You shall take them back to your brother. 2 And if he does not live near you and you do not know who he is, you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall stay with you until your brother seeks it. Then you shall restore it to him. 3 And you shall do the same with his donkey or with his garment, or with any lost thing of your brother's, which he loses and you find; you may not ignore it. 4 (B)You shall not see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and ignore them. You shall help him to lift them up again.
5 “A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, (C)for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.
6 “If you come across a bird's nest in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs and the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, (D)you shall not take the mother with the young. 7 You shall let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself, (E)that it may go well with you, and that you may live long.
8 “When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, that you may not bring the guilt of blood upon your house, if anyone should fall from it.
9 (F)“You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest the whole yield be forfeited,[a] the crop that you have sown and the yield of the vineyard. 10 You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together. 11 You shall not wear cloth of wool and linen mixed together.
12 (G)“You shall make yourself tassels on the four corners of the garment with which you cover yourself.
Laws Concerning Sexual Immorality
13 “If any man takes a wife and (H)goes in to her and then hates her 14 and accuses her of misconduct and brings a bad name upon her, saying, ‘I took this woman, and when I came near her, I did not find in her evidence of virginity,’ 15 then the father of the young woman and her mother shall take and bring out the evidence of her virginity to the elders of the city in the gate. 16 And the father of the young woman shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man to marry, and he hates her; 17 and behold, he has accused her of misconduct, saying, “I did not find in your daughter evidence of virginity.” And yet this is the evidence of my daughter's virginity.’ And they shall spread the cloak before the elders of the city. 18 Then the elders of that city shall take the man and whip[b] him, 19 and they shall fine him a hundred shekels[c] of silver and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought a bad name upon a virgin[d] of Israel. And she shall be his wife. (I)He may not divorce her all his days. 20 But if the thing is true, that evidence of virginity was not found in the young woman, 21 then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and (J)the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has (K)done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father's house. (L)So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
22 (M)“If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. (N)So you shall purge the evil from Israel.
23 “If there is a (O)betrothed virgin, and a man meets her in the city and lies with her, 24 then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbor's wife. (P)So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
25 “But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. 26 But you shall do nothing to the young woman; she has committed no offense punishable by death. For this case is like that of a man attacking and murdering his neighbor, 27 because he met her in the open country, and though the betrothed young woman cried for help there was no one to rescue her.
28 (Q)“If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, 29 then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days.
30 [e] (R)“A man shall not take his father's wife, so that he does not (S)uncover his father's nakedness.[f]

22 If you see your fellow Israelite’s ox or sheep straying, do not ignore it but be sure to take it back to its owner.(A) 2 If they do not live near you or if you do not know who owns it, take it home with you and keep it until they come looking for it. Then give it back. 3 Do the same if you find their donkey or cloak or anything else they have lost. Do not ignore it.
4 If you see your fellow Israelite’s donkey(B) or ox fallen on the road, do not ignore it. Help the owner get it to its feet.(C)
5 A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.
6 If you come across a bird’s nest beside the road, either in a tree or on the ground, and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, do not take the mother with the young.(D) 7 You may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go,(E) so that it may go well with you and you may have a long life.(F)
8 When you build a new house, make a parapet around your roof so that you may not bring the guilt of bloodshed on your house if someone falls from the roof.(G)
9 Do not plant two kinds of seed in your vineyard;(H) if you do, not only the crops you plant but also the fruit of the vineyard will be defiled.[a]
10 Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together.(I)
11 Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.(J)
12 Make tassels on the four corners of the cloak you wear.(K)
Marriage Violations
13 If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her(L), dislikes her 14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,” 15 then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate(M) proof that she was a virgin. 16 Her father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. 17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders(N) shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels[b] of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.
20 If, however, the charge is true(O) and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing(P) in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.
22 If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept(Q) with her and the woman must die.(R) You must purge the evil from Israel.
23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, 24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.(S)
25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, 27 for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed,(T) there was no one to rescue her.
28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,(U) 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[c] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.
30 A man is not to marry his father’s wife; he must not dishonor his father’s bed.[d](V)
