22 Si ves el buey o la oveja de tu hermano extraviados, no te desentiendas; ve a devolvérselos. 2 Si resulta que el dueño no vive cerca o no sabes quién es, encierra el animal en tu corral y tenlo allí hasta que el dueño venga a reclamártelo; entonces se lo devolverás. 3 Lo mismo harás si se trata de su asno, su manto o cualquier cosa que tu hermano haya perdido y que tú encuentres. No te hagas el desentendido. 4 Si ves caídos en el camino el asno o el buey de tu hermano, no te hagas el desentendido; ayúdale a levantarlos.
5 La mujer no debe usar ropas de hombre ni el hombre ropas de mujer, porque el que hace tal cosa es abominable para el Señor tu Dios.
6 Si mientras vas caminando te encuentras en un árbol o en el suelo un nido de pájaros con polluelos o con huevos y la madre está echada encima de ellos, no te quedes con la madre y los polluelos; 7 deja volar a la madre y quédate con los polluelos. Así serás dichoso y tendrás una larga vida.
8 Si construyes una casa nueva, pon barandillas en la azotea; así evitarás que tu familia sea responsable de la muerte del que pueda caer desde allí.
9 No siembres tu viñedo con dos tipos de plantas, no sea que todo quede consagrado a Dios: tanto el fruto de la vid como lo otro que sembraste.
10 No uncirás asno con buey para arar.
11 No te harás vestidos de paño tejido con lana e hilo juntamente.
12 Ponle borlas en las cuatro puntas del manto con que te cubres.
Leyes relativas a las relaciones sexuales
13 Si un hombre se casa con una mujer y, después de acostarse con ella, le toma aversión, 14 la calumnia y la difama alegando: “Me casé con esta mujer y al acostarme con ella he descubierto que no era virgen”, 15 entonces el padre y la madre de la muchacha tomarán las pruebas de su virginidad y las presentarán ante los ancianos, a la puerta de la ciudad. 16 El padre de la muchacha declarará delante de ellos: “Yo entregué a mi hija a este hombre para que fuera su esposa, pero él le ha tomado aversión, 17 y ahora la calumnia diciendo que ha descubierto que no era virgen. ¡Esta es la prueba de que sí lo era!”. A continuación sus padres mostrarán la sábana nupcial ante los ancianos de la ciudad, 18 que apresarán al hombre y lo castigarán. 19 Además, por haber difamado a una virgen israelita, le impondrán una multa de cien siclos de plata, que darán al padre de la muchacha. Ella continuará siendo su mujer y, mientras viva, no podrá repudiarla.
20 Pero si la acusación resulta verdadera y, en efecto, la muchacha no era virgen, 21 la sacarán a la puerta de la casa paterna y los hombres de la ciudad la apedrearán hasta que muera, por haber cometido una acción infame en Israel deshonrando la casa paterna. Así extirparás el mal de en medio de ti.
22 Si un hombre es sorprendido acostado con una mujer casada, los dos morirán, tanto la mujer como el hombre que se acostó con ella. Así extirparás el mal de Israel.
23 Si un hombre encuentra en una ciudad a una muchacha virgen, prometida con otro hombre, y se acuesta con ella, 24 llevarán a ambos a la puerta de la ciudad y les darán muerte a pedradas: a la muchacha, porque dentro de la ciudad no pidió socorro y al hombre por haber violado a la mujer de otro. Así extirparás el mal de en medio de ti.
25 Pero si es en el campo donde el hombre encontró a la muchacha prometida y se acuesta con ella por la fuerza, sólo ha de morir el hombre que se acostó con ella. 26 A la muchacha no le harás nada, porque no ha cometido ningún delito que merezca la muerte. Se trata de un caso semejante al de uno que ataca a otro y lo mata; 27 en efecto, el hombre encontró a la muchacha prometida en el campo y, aunque ella gritó pidiendo socorro, nadie acudió a defenderla.
28 En el caso de que un hombre encuentre a una muchacha virgen que no está prometida, y se acuesta con ella por la fuerza, si son sorprendidos, 29 el hombre que se acostó con ella dará al padre de la muchacha cincuenta siclos de plata y tendrá que casarse con ella por haberla violado, y no podrá repudiarla en toda su vida.

22 Si ves que un buey o una oveja de tu hermano se ha extraviado, no te hagas el desentendido, sino llévalo enseguida a su dueño. 2 Si el dueño no es tu vecino o no lo conoces, lleva el animal a tu casa y cuídalo hasta que el dueño te lo reclame; entonces se lo devolverás. 3 Lo mismo harás si encuentras un asno, un manto o cualquier otra cosa que se le haya perdido a tu hermano. No te portes con indiferencia.
4 Si en el camino encuentras caído un burro o un buey que pertenezca a tu hermano, no te hagas el desentendido: ayúdalo a levantarlo.
5 La mujer no se pondrá ropa de hombre ni el hombre se pondrá ropa de mujer, porque el Señor tu Dios detesta a cualquiera que hace tal cosa.
6 Si en el camino encuentras el nido de un ave en un árbol o en el suelo y a la madre echada sobre los polluelos o sobre los huevos, no te quedes con la madre y con la cría. 7 Quédate con los polluelos, pero deja ir a la madre. Así te irá bien y gozarás de larga vida.
8 Cuando edifiques una casa nueva, construye una baranda alrededor de la azotea, no sea que alguien se caiga de allí y sobre tu familia recaiga la culpa de su muerte.
9 Cuando plantes en tu viña, no mezcles dos clases de semillas; si lo haces, tendrás que consagrar a Dios tanto el producto de lo plantado como el fruto total de la viña.
10 No ares con una yunta compuesta de un buey y un burro.
11 No te vistas con ropa de lana mezclada con hilo de lino.
12 Pon cuatro borlas en las puntas del manto con que te cubres.
Violación de las reglas matrimoniales
13 Si un hombre se casa y, después de haberse acostado con su esposa, la aborrece, 14 la difama y la acusa alegando: «Me casé con esta mujer, pero al tener relaciones con ella descubrí que no era virgen»; 15 entonces el padre y la madre de la joven irán a la puerta de la ciudad y entregarán a los jefes pruebas de que ella sí era virgen. 16 El padre de la joven dirá a los jefes: «A este hombre le entregué mi hija en matrimonio, pero él la aborreció. 17 Ahora la difama y alega haber descubierto que no era virgen. ¡Pero aquí está la prueba de que sí lo era!». Entonces sus padres exhibirán la sábana a la vista de los jefes del pueblo, 18 y ellos tomarán preso al hombre y lo castigarán. 19 Además, por haber difamado a una virgen israelita, le impondrán una multa de cien piezas de plata, que se entregarán al padre de la joven. Ella seguirá siendo su esposa y, mientras él viva, no podrá divorciarse de ella.
20 Pero si la acusación es verdadera y no se demuestra la virginidad de la joven, 21 la llevarán a la puerta de la casa de su padre y allí los hombres de la ciudad la apedrearán hasta matarla. Esto le pasará por haber cometido una ofensa muy grande en Israel y por deshonrar con su mala conducta la casa de su padre. Así erradicarás el mal que haya en medio de ti.
22 Si un hombre es sorprendido durmiendo con la esposa de otro, los dos morirán, tanto el hombre que se acostó con ella como la mujer. Así erradicarás el mal que haya en medio de Israel.
23 Si en una ciudad un hombre se encuentra casualmente con una joven virgen ya comprometida para casarse y se acuesta con ella, 24 llevarán a ambos a la puerta de la ciudad y los apedrearán hasta matarlos; a la joven, por no gritar pidiendo ayuda a los de la ciudad, y al hombre, por deshonrar a la prometida de su prójimo. Así erradicarás el mal que haya en medio de ti.
25 Pero si un hombre se encuentra en el campo con una joven comprometida para casarse y la viola, solo morirá el hombre que forzó a la joven a acostarse con él. 26 A ella no le harás nada, pues ella no cometió ningún pecado que merezca la muerte. Este caso es como el de quien ataca y mata a su prójimo: 27 el hombre encontró a la joven en el campo y, aunque ella hubiera gritado, no habría habido quien la rescatara.
28 Si un hombre se encuentra casualmente con una joven virgen que no esté comprometida para casarse, la obliga a acostarse con él y son sorprendidos, 29 el hombre pagará al padre de la joven cincuenta piezas de plata y además se casará con la joven por haberla deshonrado. En toda su vida no podrá divorciarse de ella.
30 Ningún hombre podrá casarse con la esposa de su padre, ya que deshonra el lecho de su padre.

22 If you see your fellow Israelite’s ox or sheep straying, do not ignore it but be sure to take it back to its owner.(A) 2 If they do not live near you or if you do not know who owns it, take it home with you and keep it until they come looking for it. Then give it back. 3 Do the same if you find their donkey or cloak or anything else they have lost. Do not ignore it.
4 If you see your fellow Israelite’s donkey(B) or ox fallen on the road, do not ignore it. Help the owner get it to its feet.(C)
5 A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.
6 If you come across a bird’s nest beside the road, either in a tree or on the ground, and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, do not take the mother with the young.(D) 7 You may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go,(E) so that it may go well with you and you may have a long life.(F)
8 When you build a new house, make a parapet around your roof so that you may not bring the guilt of bloodshed on your house if someone falls from the roof.(G)
9 Do not plant two kinds of seed in your vineyard;(H) if you do, not only the crops you plant but also the fruit of the vineyard will be defiled.[a]
10 Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together.(I)
11 Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.(J)
12 Make tassels on the four corners of the cloak you wear.(K)
Marriage Violations
13 If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her(L), dislikes her 14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,” 15 then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate(M) proof that she was a virgin. 16 Her father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. 17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders(N) shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels[b] of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.
20 If, however, the charge is true(O) and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing(P) in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.
22 If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept(Q) with her and the woman must die.(R) You must purge the evil from Israel.
23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, 24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.(S)
25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, 27 for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed,(T) there was no one to rescue her.
28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,(U) 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[c] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.
30 A man is not to marry his father’s wife; he must not dishonor his father’s bed.[d](V)

22 Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother.
2 And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
3 In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself.
4 Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.
5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
6 If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
7 But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
8 When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.
9 Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.
10 Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together.
11 Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.
12 Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.
13 If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
14 And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
15 Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
16 And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
17 And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18 And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19 And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
21 Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
22 If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
23 If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;
24 Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
25 But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die.
26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.
28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
30 A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.
